[Review] Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Plum Wine

Namastey errbody!

The weekend is almost over wtf. Why does it fly by so fast? ūüė¶ To think I wait 5 days for the weekend to get here, and when it does, I barely have time to enjoy it.

Anyway back to the review, I’ve love my high-end products and all, but sometimes, drugstore products really have a way of catching ones¬†attention. One of them included the¬†Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Plum Wine. I picked this up mainly because of name, Bouncy Blush, really? How cute is that?

Product Description: The Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush comes in 10 shades. It gives you the freshest flush ever, with its revolutionary gel formula that provides a new bouncy texture for a sheer wash of bouncy-fresh color that lasts! Lightweight like a powder, yet melts seamlessly into skin like a cream. Natural sheer wash of color that is buildable for greater color intensity. Dermatologist tested, allergy tested, & non comedogenic.

Usage: For best results, apply with your fingertips, blend a small amount of blush onto the apples of your cheeks, applying from your cheekbones to your temples. To build color intensity, apply more blush.

Personal Thoughts: The product comes in this weirdest consistency, like a cross between a bun and pudding or something like Silly Putty. Sounds appetizing, I know. ūüėÄ It feels so soft, bouncy & fluffy just like its name! When you touch it, it feels like mousse, but a little stiffer, lol. When you press it hard, it will leave an indentation on the blush. In the long run, it’s gonna look as flat as a pancake.¬†This blush has moisture in it which powder blushes lack due to its gel like & mousse consistency, so it applies better on dry skin compared as to how¬†powder blushes do.

Packaging wise, it comes in a small round little pot, with a see through lid so you can see that shade you have. Its light, and fits into your clutch, pocket or purse, if you need to carry it around.

How I apply the product is in two ways. One is using my fingers, and the other is with a fluffy face brush like the Zoeva Silk Finish which helps to apply & blend too. I gently swirl the brush on the blush, and blendy blendy. Using my fingers is much easier, but I notice that it will mess up my foundation if I blend too much. I find that this product applies better on bare skin since it melts onto skin easily. The blush is best for creating a natural flush on bare skin. Pigmentation wise, the colour is quite pigmented & easy to work with, & still buildable when you need to.

There is no scent to the product, before or after application. Staying power is the only con on this product. It only lasts max 3-4 hours, and if I bother to prime & powder, it lasts an hour or two longer.¬†Plum Wine as a shade is really beautiful, it’s a dark plummy colour with silver shimmer which leaves my cheeks looking luminous.

A swatch for you to watch. It applies very pigmentedly, with slight silver shimmer which isn’t too visible.

I love how it applies on me, so natural yet so pretty! ‚̧

Maybelline Bouncy Blush Plum Wine Review

To wrap things up like a samosa, I love this blush! It’s too bad about the long-lastingness, but I don’t think I’d mind reapplying every 4-5 hours or so. I really want more from the range, though I’ve heard the lighter shades don’t impart a pigmented colour like the darker shades like Hot Tamale. Imma pick up a few more shades soon for sure ‚̧ And for the price of USD 7.99, its amazingly cheap too.

One thing though ladies, this product is still not available in Malaysia, and I personally got them from Amazon through a friend. I really do wish they’d bring this over locally at some point.
