[Review] Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow Has Me Under A Wonderful Tizzy

Hello errbody!

It has been one long week for me, in some ways good, and bad. The bad included having power cuts due to massive rain storms (the power is back up now yay!), and now with no water supply in my house, it’s just been annoying grrrrrr! I’m so fed up with the whole situation, but there’s nothing I can do about it, so all I have to do is wait it out. On top of that, I’ve been saying one goodbye after another since I’m moving jobs in the next few days.  T_T I really am going to miss my colleagues since they’re an awesome bunch of people, but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do to advance her career. So do wish me luck! ❤

Delving into the post for today, since I’ve always had a thing for highlighters, luminizers, all things glowy & sparkly, so I couldn’t help but to pass up a chance to purchase the Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow Instant Soft-Focus Beauty Flash Primer the moment I saw it. mymakeuporganizer on Instagram raves to no end about it, and I guess I just caught in her tidal raves 🙂 And I’ll be doing the raving in a bit too mind you.

First of all, can I just say the packaging is just oh so gorgeous! Look at the rose gold, and the design of the bottle is just WONDERful! (pardon the pun lol) Clearly there was a lot thought put into the packaging, and it paid off really well. It looks luxe, classy & just downright beautiful. The bottle is made out of a plastic material, so you can easily squeeze the product out.

The bottle has the Charlotte Tilbury logo & design on the front, and its an opaque bottle that allows one to see through the bottle. At least I’ll know when I’m running out of the product.

Wonderglow is made in Switzerland, and contains 40 ml of product. There is only one shade available, and it is the kind of products that will blend into any skin tome.

Product Description: A miracle fix to turn around tired, dull, dehydrated skin in a beauty flash. It’s powered by a breakthrough Fluorescent Core Light Diffuser that cleverly steals UV light from its surroundings and re-emits it as skin luminosity to disguise and transform drab, sleep-deprived skin.

Wonderglow is a visionary new anti-age hybrid. It’s a cross between an anti-age elixir and a complexion-enhancing light diffuser to give your skin an instant “spotlight” effect. Collagen-boosting peptides and patented wrinkle-preventing ingredients are fused with light-reflecting microspheres with a fluorescent core that fill in wrinkles and scatter light to blur away lines and flood skin with luminosity.

Create the definition of youthful, healthy skin: glowing, hydrated and effervescent. It can be used underneath your foundation, on its own for a relaxed, effortlessly dewy look or on top of makeup through-out the day to give your skin an instant pick-me-up – it’s one of Charlotte Tilbury’s seven wonders for your skin!

Optimized-Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow Review (2)

  • The state of the art Fluorescent Core Light Diffuser absorbs UV particles from the sun & re-emits their energy as visible light, flooding the skin with powerful luminosity.
  • Soft focus ceramic microspheres “roll” into wrinkles and over imperfect skin tone, scattering light to create an anti-age optical illusion. Wrinkles are disguised and skin tone is corrected.
  • The anti-age hero, BioNymph Peptide Complex, multi-tasks in the skin to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, improve skin elasticity & generally smooth things over. This is combined with wrinkle-preventing matrikines that recharge the skin’s natural renewal rhythm.
  • Sodium Hyaluronate forms a film of hyaluronic acid over the skin, sealing in moisture, whilst extracts of Wild Pansy promote the renewal of hyaluronic acid in the skin surface to retain and flood the skin with moisture.
  • Floral accents of rose hip oil and camellia oil regenerate, restructure and moisturize the skin.

The Wonderglow can be used in more than one way:

  • For an effortless, “make-up free” dewy look: moisturize your skin, then apply Wonderglow with your hands or using a brush, to the entire face focusing on the top of the cheekbones to give your face an instant lift.
  • To enhance your luminosity under make-up: after moisturizing, apply a fine layer of Wonderglow to your entire face, using your hands or a brush, focusing on your cheekbones. Apply your foundation of choice on top for optimal, luminous coverage.
  • As a desk ‘til dusk pick me up, apply a walnut sized amount of Wonderglow to your cheekbones and brow bone, on top of day-worn make-up to lift and perk up your complexion.

Personal Thoughts: The product is named as a primer, but it truly isn’t. It’s a luminous golden liquid highlighter which is basically awesomesauce in a bottle! Seriously. The first time I applied this onto my skin, my reaction was basically this.

My skin looked like its regular self, but better. There was a golden & luminous flush on my skin, which wasn’t overpowering or too shimmery, unlike how some illuminators do. I use it under, over, and mixed with my foundation, all over my face. (50:50 ratio) I apply this over my moisturizer and sunblock, and only then the Wonderglow. On some days, I skip foundation completely, slap on some Wonderglow, a bit of powder and I’m good to go!

As you can see below, its not runny, but not too thick as well. It definitely isn’t one of those highlighters that is liquidy & runs down your face, so I usually apply this with my fingers, and rarely with my brush. I prefer to tap, tap, tap away until the product is completely blended into my face. And you can never overapply too much of Wonderglow, which I realized after I accidentally squeezed out too much product out of the bottle one day. Whoopsie!

It dries to a dewy finish, and is actually quite blendable since it doesn’t dry immediately on application. So you don’t have to worry that it sits onto your foundation. There is a slight rose scent to the Wonderglow that isn’t very strong, and it does fade away in a few minutes after application. I do like the scent though, its rather relaxing and calming.

I really really do love this product, and I can safely say I need this in my makeup bag everyday, till death do us part.

I have a closer swatch for you sourced via The Beauty Look Book. I love how the blended product contains so many little particles reflecting the whole spectrum of colours in their glory. No wonder my skin looks like its been bathed in sunlight & sunshine. I think that this will look great on those of us with tanned skin, since it will make one look like a bronzed goddess.

Here’s me wearing the Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow on my face. I’ve only got my moisturizer & Wonderglow on. I know it looks like I have nothing on my skin, but I do, and Wonderglow really makes a world of a difference for my skin.

I really really do love this product, and I can safely say I need this in my makeup bag everyday, till death do us part. Though I did wish it was cheaper, and available locally, but it isn’t. At USD52 a pop, it’s a heavy price to pay, but its an investment that paid off for me ❤ I’ve even repurchased a second bottle as a backup, so that tells you how much I love it. Now, its time for me to ponder what is the next item I’m going to purchase from the Charlotte Tilbury range, muahahaha.

What do you think? Will you purchase the Wonderglow? Have you tried it before? Comment below and let me know. 🙂

  1. Thanks for sharing. Everyone is really raving about this!

P.S. I think it’s fantastic that you credited your source for the image. That’s great blogging ethics right there, and you deserve a thumbs up babe 😉

    • Hey there, thank you very much 🙂 I think that every image sourced externally needs to be credited to its rightful owner, since I know I’d be upset if my images were not credited back to me by someone else.

As for the product, its really an awesome product. I’m sure you wouldn’t regret purchasing it ❤

  2. Great post! This looks awesome, really beautiful on your skin. I brought my first CT lipstick the other day and I’m absolutely addicted!! I’ve reviewed it along with the gloss and liner if you’re interested? Zoe xx (zoebeautyblog.com)

      xx 😀
