Review : M.A.C Giambattista Valli – Charlotte

Optimized-MAC Giambatista Valli Review (5)

I have to start this post by saying that I have zero necessity of another red lipstick, but I saw this, I liked it, and I had to have it 😀 Veni, Vidi, Vici! I’m still not a big MAC fan as I’ve mentioned previously, but I couldn’t pass up a gorgeous red lippie which was limited edition.

The MAC Giambatistta Valli collection brings 5 shades in the range, however I decided to pick up just the one red as the other shades looked too garish for my tastes. Tats & Eugenie looked pretty cute I might add though.

Charlotte on the other hand is a brick-red, blue based matte lipstick which instantly spoke to me the moment I saw the swatches online. The packaging is matte as well (unlike the rubbery ones found in the Toledo collection), mind you, so I really liked it. One of my favorite things about this lipsticks is that the packaging is the same color as the shade inside. You know how annoying it is when you’re ruffling through your bag and you can’t locate the lipstick that you want so this eliminates that.

Swatches! I love the red, seriously. It’s so dark and deep and has a good color payoff that covers my lips evenly and smoothly without dragging during application. The color lasts about six to seven hours but I felt that it was somewhat drying over time.

Since we don’t wear lipsticks on our arms, here it is on me ❤ Love, love, love the red! Oh and eyebrows are by Anastasia Beverly Hill’s DipBrow Pomade in Dark Brown. Review on that surely coming soon, its been one of my favourites recently.

[Review] M.A.C Isabel and Ruben Toledo Collection – Love at First Swipe

Hola muchachitas!

BTW, that means hello girls in Spanish 🙂 I’ve been eyeing the recent M.A.C limited edition collections that have been launching recently one by one, and oh boy can I say, some of them are really pretty! The most recent ones include Cinderella Collection, the Bao Bao Wan Collection, and of course, the M.A.C Isabel & Ruben Toledo Collection. I’m no big fan of M.A.C and their limited edition collections, but once in a while they do make really gorgeous products which I cant say no to.

To be very honest, I was slightly impressed with the service at M.A.C at Sunway Pyramid from my previous purchase with them, so I went back there again to pick up something from the LE collections. From all the swatching and browsing, I finally decided to get the Isabel & Ruben Toledo Lipstick in the shade Opera. I did want Oxblood, (which isn’t even oxblood in colour wtf which I don’t understand =_=”) but it was all sold out. Anyone seen it lurking around at any of the MAC outlets?

Fashion’s most romantic couple, Isabel and Ruben Toledo, are renowned for their award-winning and imaginative work in fashion design and illustration. Isabel and Ruben Toledo lend their vibrant eye for fashion and art to a collection of irreverent colour designed to inspire endless play. This unique collaboration with M·A·C pairs Isabel’s sensational penchant for colour with Ruben’s vibrant energy in a palette of hues designed to sculpt, paint and transform the face. Specially designed white packaging features Ruben’s illustrations, an array of graphic lines and red-lipped faces brought to life with his one-of-a-kind aesthetic.

Have fun watching the video, I found myself dancing to the tune <3 They look like they’re having so much fun!

The lipstick range comes in 6 beautiful limited edition shades, & I was initially torn between Tenor Voice, Opera & Victoriana, but finally decide on Opera, which is a blue based matte red shade. Victoriana was a pinky based red, and Tenor Voice is an orange based red, and I really really wanted them but, sadly, I’m saving up for upcoming Spring/Summer releases that I’ve been eyeing, especially from Givenchy, and Hourglass.

Don’t you just love those gorgeous reds?

Personal Thoughts: The finish of these lipsticks are your typical MAC Mattes, but not as dry as the Retro Matte range. I think the finish is more like an Amplified. Packaging wise, it comes in a white bullet with the Toledo signature, and a funky design on the bottom of the bullet. The bullet material is slightly rubbery, so PLEASE do not get any lipstick on it, or it will stain forever and be doomed to ugly marks.

The red is so vibrant against my tan skin! And this is just one soft swipe mind you 😀 Ohh it’s so pretty!

The colour and pigmentation of this lipstick is just crazy! One swipe of the red, and it was love at first sight. The colour is a deep, daring red, matte yet not drying at all. I get at least 7-8 hours of wear with this lipstick, with no smudging or wearing. It definitely is a long wearing lip colour, since it feels moisturizing all day long, with no discomfort.

The ingredients in case you were curious.

I just love rocking that roaring red! ❤

To sum things up, if you love pigmented, long-lasting lip colours, give this a go, and you may very well fall in love with it, just like I did. Packaging is an A+ plus too! I really have no complaints 🙂

M.A.C Masterclass Brush Collection: The Next Big Thing

Hello awesomesauces!

Its a brush, its a toothbrush, no, its the latest thing to hit the Beauty world, its the M.A.C Masterclass Brush Collection!

Its a well known fact that the quality of your tools affect the quality of your results, and its no different with make up. And M.A.C brushes and make-up are the Holy Grail of all beauty addicts, me included!

M.A.C has always been known for their professional grade cosmetics, as well as their long line of make up brushes, and they have three new additions to the M.A.C family!

Introducing the collection!

The brushes are designed for an even and effortless application of make up, with lush, silky, synthetic Cosmefibres to pick up and apply product seamlessly.

They’re available in three types (for now, but judging by the numbering system, of the brushes, there is more to come), the Linear 1, Oval 3 and Oval 6.

They feature a special rubber grip brush handle designed for absolute control, and a tilted tip that keeps fingers and hands out of the way for ultimate precision.

MAC OVAL 3 Brush USD32 ( for applying eye shadow and concealer)

shashay (1)

MAC Linear 1 Brush USD25 (for lining lashes, lips and filling in brows)

shashay (3)

Ok, so what makes these brushes so different from the ones we already have, apart from the way they look? These new brushes are designed for  gliding, skimming, pushing and pulling across the skin. Not for tapping or stippling, or poking.

Oval 6: Use them for applying  primer, foundation and powder products to the entire face. Also use with blush and bronzer for contouring the cheek bone area.

Oval 3: It includes a corner shape that assists the user in shading and blending cream, or powder eye shadow to the eye. Plus use it for applying foundation and concealer to targeted areas of the face like under the eyes, the inside corner of the eye or on the sides of your nose.

Linear 1: This brush has a short narrow row of fibres to help concentrate product application along the lash line. The brush applies a perfect thin line of product along the upper lash line or tucked under the lower lash line. It can also be used to fill in and define the brows, or to apply a defined line along the lip. The Linear 1 brush is very helpful for special effects makeup to create crisp lines and linear shapes.

According to Nick Gavrelis Vice President, Global Product Development, M·A·C Cosmetics, these amazing brushes are not meant to replace traditional make-up brushes, but rather to provide the consumer with more choices and will incorporate beautifully into a consumer’s or professional’s existing collection of brushes.

Personally, I want to try the brushes out before I actually purchase them, since I’m quite used to the regular, more traditional brushes, or so we say. But these toothbrush looking brushes look interesting, and it seems like a good reason to convince myself to buy more brushes!

I’m not sure if the brushes are already available in Malaysia yet, since I haven’t been to M.A.C in the longest time, but judging on the USD prices, they should retail about the same as the regular M.A.C brushes here.

So what do you think? A must have, or a no way? Love em or hate em?

Tell me some of your thoughts, I’d like to hear what you think about these brushes.
