To Know Malaysia, Is To Laugh Malaysia : Harith Iskandar, Jason Leong & Papa CJ

If there is one thing all Malaysians are good at, it is laughing at ourselves. We Malaysians have a special knack of finding the hilarious side of  the worst of situations (not a great idea sometimes, lol!), and I wholeheartedly believe that laughter is indeed the best medicine to heal difficult & troubled times, whilst bringing people together. And Malaysia has had a very trying year recently, no doubt, and we are in a serious need of a good laugh 🙂

Guess who is bringing laughter back?

Hello Harith Iskandar!

Any self-respecting Malaysian would know Harith Iskandar as one of our biggest stand-up comedians with a long history of true Malaysian-styled comedy and humour! Together with stand-up comedian Dr Jason Leong (Yes, a proper doctor he is) and a special guest appearance by Papa CJ, India’s most influential comic, all three of them are set to take the stage for BIGGEST stand-up comedy show in ASIA!

Where? When? How Much?

Date: 29th October 2014, Wednesday
Time: 8.30pm
Venue: Putra Stadium, Bukit Jalil
Ticket Prices: RM38, RM68, RM118, RM128, RM158 and RM258.

Ticketing: or call +603-8775 4666

With the aim to spread the spirit of ‘moderation’ and ‘togetherness’, Harith Iskandar will be entertaining us through the night with a whole batch of new comedy material, which I don’t doubt will be awesomesauce!

Also boys and girls, please note that proceeds of the event will go to the OrphanCare Foundation, a non-profit organisation dedicated to the placement of unwanted babies and orphans with loving families. So come and join me for a great night out & do your part in lending a hand ❤

I had a really amazing time attending the press conference to launch this event, and allow me to share snippets from the day.

All picture in this post are all credited to my girl Shivani, of Pen My Blog unless stated otherwise.

The fan-girl in me just needed a picture with Harith Iskandar! ❤ I’ve actually seen him here and there at events before, but this time around I managed to catch some of his time to have a nice chat!

Dr Jason Leong. Managed to have a quick chat with him during the press con, and  may I say that he is super friendly!  And if you’re wondering what is his unique brand of comedy, its satire and political incorrectness! (My favourite!)

Cremorlab @ Muse By Watsons

Haroo all you awesomesauces!

Guess what? I have a brand new skin care line to tell you all about today!  It hails all the way from the magical land of skincare that is Korea and is proudly named Cremorlab 😀 This was my first introduction to the brand, and I would like to thank The Butterfly Project & Muse by Watsons for kindly extending the honour of me getting to know the brand a little more in-depth.

The launch of Cremorlab was organized at the only Muse by Watsons outlet in Malaysia at Sunway Pyramid.

Cremorlab’s tagline is “a new classic in hydration” which I think is simply marvelous. If you’ve read through many of my previous posts, I would have mentioned how important hydration is to the skin. Have a look at my Hydraluron review on the importance of hydrating your skin, which incidentally is from Muse by Watsons too, lol!

The event on the day:  PS: Can you spot the girl in the green headband?

Muse Butterfly Project

The event started of with a  quick introduction from Amanda, the brand manager of Muse by Watsons (who has amazingly flawless skin which she attributes to Cremorlab) about Cremorlab & hydration, plus a presentation by Dr Koh Chuan Keng, a skin specialist invited to talk to us lucky ladies on the importance of hydration.

Amanda talked to us about the importance of moisturization, inside and out. Now as we all know, we need to keep or body hydrated on the inside with sufficient water, however topical moisturization is equally important. Hence we have all sorts of creams, moisturizers and potions that help add to that moisture level.

Picture below shows Dr. Koh on the kinds of foods that help add moisture to your skin.

By the way, did you know that there are only 100 legitimate skin specialists in Malaysia? The rest apparently are “so-called” skin specialists, but are not actually certified by the Malaysian board of Dermatology. You can look up the official Malaysian dermatologist list  at .

You know how some presentations by guest speakers are always dreary and boring? Well this one wasn’t! I found myself laughing, and being very attentive which isn’t very typical of me if you must know. Dr Koh was really engaging and funny to boot. And not to mention how knowledgeable he was.

After the presentation, I managed to steal some of his time to talk a little bit more about my skin concerns, and even my hair loss since he is also expert in hair & nail health.

After the presentation, I had a poke through the Cremorlab counter at Muse. The Cremorlab counter was all decked in white with their bestseller products proudly on display.

The 3 new products in the Cremorlab range include the O2 Bubble Energizing Mask [RM99.00] , Long Lasting Perfect BB Cream [RM119.00] , and the Mineral Treatment Essence. [RM129.00]

All of the Cremorlab products contain their star main ingredient which is T.E.N, which stands for Thermal water therapy, Eco energy and Natural nourishment.  T.E.N. comes from the thermal waters in the Korean’s Gangwon Province, which is famous for its richness in minerals since it extracted from pristine water sources 1,100 meters underground.

You can read up a little more about the T.E.N benefits from the picture below.

While I playing around with the Cremorlab products, I came across this gem of a product which is the Cremorlab Fresh Water Gel [RM119.00] . It is a clear gel moisturizer, and once applied to your skin, provides an immediate layer of moisture protection that keeps skin supple. It contains natural Bulgarian rose oil also known as the queen of all essential oils, to provide soothing qualities.

This is actually one of their bestsellers, and I can definitely understand why. The moment I applied it to my skin, I felt a quick boost of moisture and my skin felt soft and supple almost immediately.

And of course, I must introduce you to the main highlight of the event, lol, the yummy refreshments.

One thing I’d like to point out was the fact that they served water instead of sweet juices which I really do appreciate. Most events usually serve up coffee, tea, or juices that dehydrate me, and most times, this girl just wants is her H2O. Hydration for the win!

I enjoyed getting to meet Cremorlab and its amazing range of products, and I’m excited to give the Mineral Treatment Essence a trial run as soon as I can. Thank you so very much to Muse by Watson and TBP for inviting me for yet another marvelous day out, and I look forward to reviewing the products I took home 🙂

Have you tried anything from Cremorlab? Let me know in the comments 🙂

Review : Worthy Book Ladies Edition 2014-2015

Haroo ladies! (Yeap ladies, not awesomesauces because this post is for mah ladies out there! Sorry boys.. )

I’m assuming most of you have heard of Worthy Book? Nope? If yes, great, if no, jump into the post already!

Worthy Book is basically a voucher booklet that offers discounts, offers and unspecified perks on dining, entertainment, health and beauty services and retail.  Its also a voucher booklet for amazing freebies & deals at some of Malaysia’s most popular spots, ideal for your family, friends, colleagues and loved ones!

Just recently though, they released the ladies special (don’t we all love all those special perks we get for being a girl?), the Ladies Edition!

Imagine a coupon book filled to the brim with special offers from skin care, cosmetics, fashion, & services such as mani pedis, waxing, spa treatments etc!  And the best part? The vouchers in the book are worth more than RM11,000!

Lets take a peek into the book 🙂

Worthy Book Review Ladies Edition (1)

The book is rather well organized, and for a list freak like me, I love the fact that the coupons are all arranged in their respective categories, areas, and malls.  #ocdftw Have a peek!

Worthy Book Review Ladies Edition (2)

The area category is separated into Kuala Lumpur, Selangor & online stores.

Worthy Book Review Ladies Edition (3)

And so are the malls.  There is also a separate category for some of the stores which happened to be outside of the Klang Valley, which includes Penang, Johor and even Sabah & Sarawak.

Worthy Book Review Ladies Edition (4)

Flipping through the pages, I see a lot of stores that I already currently shop at featured in the Worthy Book. One needs no introduction to Zalora I assume?

Worthy Book Review Ladies Edition (5)

My eyes popped ever so slightly when I spotted Algotherm in the list! Premium brands galore..!

Worthy Book Review Ladies Edition (6)

Even Vila Manja, which I have visited before when I attended the Butterfly Luau Party!

Worthy Book Review Ladies Edition (7)

Even Muse by Watsons which I will be featuring in one my upcoming blog posts 😀

Worthy Book Review Ladies Edition (8)

Spotted tns Skinlab in the mix too.

Worthy Book Review Ladies Edition (9)

Any self respecting fashionista living in Malaysia would have heard of F Block! This one excited me a lot since I have yet to get myself anything from them. That 15% off might just be the making of  a beautiful relationship between me and F Block 🙂

Worthy Book Review Ladies Edition (11)

Personal thoughts: I’ve redeemed 1 or 2 of the coupons, being busy with work and all that, one hardly can find the time these days to slot in a quick shopping or spa session, but I did manage to purchase a Christy Ng pair of shoes and I got a 30% discount off it ❤

Honestly, I think that this book is wayy too much discounts for one person, serious talk. (Too much of a good things can be detrimental to my wallet, LOL!) I even shared some of the coupons with my girlfriends, and they were super excited about it! Good things are definitely meant to be shared, and worthy book is definitely one of those things.

Worthy Book is available at all major bookstores (MPH, Popular, Borders, Times, Kinokuniya & in KL, Selangor, Penang & Johor for rm25 per book, and I highly suggest you pick up a copy for yourself and experience the joy of couponing ❤

Gong Xi Gong Xi awesomesauces!

Chinese New Year is upon us in few days time, and to say everyone is excited seems to be an understatement, myself included. I’ve been taking advantage of the CNY sales to shop, and eating all the mandarin oranges I can. And festivals equals celebrations, and so I bring you my very first CNY Party with The Butterfly Project Malaysia and Yadah Skincare & Cosmetics Malaysia held at the Little Wonton Bar.

Read up and find out what Yadah is all about, and a surprise is waiting for my readers at the end of the post!

A New Year means changes, along with resolutions to unveil a brand New You, and this was what Yadah & The Butterfly Project wanted all the girls to experience. And if you haven’t heard of Yadah, they are a Korean based skincare & cosmetics brand which offers gentle yet effective botanical skincare range, 100% free from artificial coloring, preservatives, mineral oil, sulphate and animal extracts. Their skincare range is based on natural plant extracts like essential oils, floral water, barks and traditional herbs that work in perfect harmony with the skin.

Lets head over to the Yadah CNY party and check out the exciting happenings.

shashay (10)

A splash of red was the dress code of the day, and guess what? I realized I have no red coloured clothing. Dang it! I ended up wearing the closest thing to a red dress I could find in my closet, a high-lo, maroon coloured, Peter Pan collared dress from H&M.

The little girl in my hands, that’s Yadah, the official mascot of the Yadah brand! 😉

A quick view of Little Wonton. Gives me the old China feels!

shashay (6)

shashay (1)

The highlights of the party? From product testing to product comparison and the finale of a bowl of wonton noodle soup eating competition, we unveiled the long lastingness of using Yadah’s products.

Activity 1: Testing the Yadah Bubble Deep Cleanser, RM49 (150ml)

We drew a stroke of pencil eyeliner & liquid eyeliner of the back of our hands, and applied a pump of the Bubble Deep Cleanser. The cleanser smells very much like an orange, with a very citrusy scent that lingers. A few quick circular rubs later, and ALL the eyeliner has disappeared. Now I know why this cleanser is Yadah’s bestseller product! It doesn’t dry out your skin and skin is left feeling softer and much cleaner.

Activity 2: Testing the Yadah Lip Tint Balm (Wonton Noodle Soup Eating Competition)

shashay (2)

Two lucky girls were asked to test out the Lip Tint Balm by applying the balm, and having to eat a whole bowl of noodles in less than 30 seconds. As you can see, Jennifer (on the right) swallowed her bowl of noodles outright and still had the balm on her lips after that! The balm definitely DOES NOT budge one bit at all even after all that slurping and gobbling! Jennifer won the eating contest, but both ladies walked away with the Yadah Ampoules!

Activity 3:  Testing ABC sunblocks

shashay (4)

We had 3 types of sunblocks to test and give our opinions on. I tried on all 3, and this is what I think. Type A has a very light texture, but was too fair on my skin, and I didn’t like the scent so much. Type B had a medium texture, and smelt really yummy, and blended right into my skin. Type C was way too heavy, and the colour was just too dark on me. But it smelt nice though 🙂

Shall I reveal the identities of the sunblock?

  • Type A was Yadah’s older version of sunblock, their Sun Cream
  • Type B is Yadah’s latest product called ‘Oh My Sunblock’
  • Type C is Brand X, He Who Must Not Be Named

Type B,which is Yadah’s latest baby, has not been released in the market yet, and I so excited that I got to try it out, and even take a full sized one home. The sunblock is a daily-wear colorless and highly moisturizing sunscreen that offers high-level protection against harmful UVA and UVB rays for all skin types and is gentle even for the most sensitive skin. It is also free from the 8 harmful chemical ingredients: Paraben, Benzophenone, Talc, Mineral Oil, Sulfate, Surfactant, Propylene Glycol, Tar Colorant, and Triethanolamine.

We had many more of Yadah’s products to test out and experience, and I love the fact that Yadah had all the products on hand for us to test and use. They were really friendly, and took the time to talk to each and every one of us, and explained the concept behind Yadah and how their product works to provide a healthier, brighter looking complexion. Using the products, touching, smelling, feeling the items definitely helps me make an informed judgement before buying any product, so kudos to Yadah!

Some of the other products we tried out:

Yadah Angel BB Cream, RM 49(40ml) in Light Beige & Natural Beige

Yadah Lip Tint Balm, RM 25 (4.5g) in 4 shades, Cherry Red, Shiny Peach, Sugar Pink, Bling Bling Yellow

Yadah Lovely Lip Gloss, Rm19, (9.8g) in 5 shades, Strawberry Pink, Tropical Orange, Cherry Ade, Bling Bling Essence, Peach Smoothies

yadah (2)

Yadah Natural Hair Shampoo RM45, (400g)

Yadah Natural Body Lotion & Yadah Natural Body Wash, RM35 (250g)

shashay (5)

And of course, no party is complete without yummy snacks and food na, and the menu of the day?

shashay (9)

Green Tea

shashay (7)

Yummy Spicy Noodles. Mine was Spicy Thai 😉 The black charcoal noodles, combined with spicy Thai sauce really had my taste buds going crazy!

yadah (3)

These interesting babies were the sweet and savoury wontons, some of them contain Kaya Banana, Banana Chocolate, Mushroom Onion Cheese & Sausage Tomato Cheese. I tried each and every one of them, I was really hungry okay, and they tasted absolutely scrumptious!

shashay (8)

And in conjunction with the New Year, New You motto, we wrote down our New Year Resolutions on a lantern, and here’s hoping all of them come true. *Do forgive the horrible writing*

yadah (4)

And as always, we got to try bring home a goodie bag containing Yadah’s products! One thing I really loved was the fact that most of the products were given to us in full size! Don’t you just get annoyed when you get a 5 ml sample to try? Thank you Yadah for being so generous!! The products came in an eco friendly tote bag that was specially flown from Korea to this party as goodie bags, which means that they aren’t available here in Malaysia. And of course CNY is never complete without angpao giving, and thanks to Sasa Malaysia, Sasa vouchers were given out to all of us 😉

Domestic Abuse in Malaysia. In My Own Home.

As I’m typing this post, my head is still reeling from the events of last night. I wasn’t planning to write a post today, considering I’m still sick with flu & fever, but I need to get this story out of my head while the memories are still fresh in my mind.

I live in a 3 bedroom apartment, and one of the rooms is occupied by a couple. For the past few of days, every single night, I could hear the boyfriend yelling at his girlfriend, screaming, banging the walls, throwing things around, and the girlfriend would be crying and screaming too. Usually when this happens, I lock my room door, and wait for it to pass. I assumed it was a lovers argument, and I left it at that.

Yesterday night around 11pm, I was in my room, on the phone with my boyfriend, when the banging and screaming started again. This time around, the scenario sounded very different. I could hear her boyfriend screaming and shouting at her, but I could hear sounds of someone being hit. I could hear her screaming and crying as he hit her again and again. (I was in my room, so this is what I’m assuming happened)  I was at a loss on what to do. If I went out there to stop him, I’d probably get hit too. The only thing to do was call the cops, which is what everyone on the apartment floor did. The sounds got so bad, that even the neighbours started ringing the doorbell and asking the boyfriend to open the door. He didn’t. He kept on screaming.

After a few minutes, things got quiet. I could still hear the screaming, but it sounded like it was getting further and further away. And then it started all over again. This went on for about 10-15 minutes. It felt much longer though. After a while, I could hear knocks on my room door, asking me to come out.

It was the police.

When I finally left  my room, the one thing I could see was the girlfriend, who had massive bruises, a bleeding head, and a very swollen forehead. She was crying hysterically and didn’t want to talk to me, or the police. The police took my statement and when I asked the police if they were going to take the boyfriend away, they said they were not going to. WTF?  I’m not well versed in Malaysian police or legal systems, but can anyone tell me why they didn’t lock him up for the night? They asked the girlfriend if she wanted to go to the hospital and she said no, so the police issued the couple a quick warning and they left.

And the most fucked up thing of all was the boyfriends reaction to the police. He was as charming as hell, laughing and joking with them, and even shaking hands with all of them as they left. I know abusers can appear charming as hell to the public when they want to, but to witness it first hand myself?

After the police left, I went back into my room, and as usual, locked my room door. I know how cowardly it may seem for me to have heard all the noise and to have not done anything to help, but tell me, would you have gotten in between an angry, 6 feet tall guy who was in a murderous rage?

Its the next day now. Things are quiet. I don’t know whats going to happen next, and if this is going to repeat itself. I hear them talking to each other, and going about their normal routines, laughing and talking. I want to speak to her, and tell her to get the fuck away from this guy, but how do I do that when he is constantly hovering?

Girls, if you’re reading this, please know that this is not okay. If a man can hit you once, he can do it again. He may apologize and beg for your forgiveness, and say that he will change, but please don’t go back to him. It may be hard to walk away from something like this, it may be fear or love that holding you back, but please do something for yourselves. I’m the last person to provide advice on this, but trust me when I say that DOMESTIC ABUSE IS NOT OKAY.

If you know anyone in this kind of situation, please contact the police or the Woman’s Aid Organization

Please share, reblog, and know that abuse can happen anywhere, anytime, even in front of your own eyes. As for me, I’m moving out.

2014 Beauty Resolutions

Hello awesomesauces!

Its that time again where we say goodbye to the past year, look back fondly at all the ups and downs, and make resolutions for the upcoming year. I wrote a recent blog post about my 2014 wishlists, hopes, and dreams, and this post is something similar to that, only now, I’ll be writing about my beauty resolutions instead.

Gosh, I’ve got so many resolutions for 2014!

The Butterfly Project Malaysia in collaboration with YADAH Malaysia wants to know what my beauty resolutions for 2014 are too, so hop on the Shashay train and here we go!

shashay (2)

Now, if you haven’t experienced YADAH, you totally should! One of my favourites from them is the Sweet Milky Tint, which they just released a few weeks back! YADAH’s beauty concept is all about organic, natural plant goodness, and a big no no to artificial coloring, preservatives, chemicals, mineral oil, sulphates and animal extracts.  Their  botanical skincare range products are gentle yet effective.

All YADAH products are certified by the Korean FDA (Food and Drug Association) and they are formulated to be hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic (doesn’t block pores)  with a mixture of botanical ingredients that are natural, organic and some of their products even have Ecocert certification. Ecocert certification means that the products are  manufactured by environmentally friendly processes, and that 95% of the total ingredients come from natural origin. WOW!

And YADAH has a major cute factor, have a look at the lil girl named Yadah in action!

shashay (1)

Too cute na?

Anyways, my beauty resolutions for 2014? I didn’t have to think too hard, since I knew my bad beauty habits all too well!  I’m only going to promise myself 3 resolutions this year, if I have too many, whoossshh, there goes my resolutions down the drain.

1. Spending more time nurturing and taking care of my skin and body. I’m always in a rush, trying to be a Superwoman at work and  at home, and sometimes, I’m just too exhausted to spend an extra 15 minutes to just give my skin the pampering it deserves. I think this includes more rest, sleep, and less stress. My skin and body definitely deserves better.
2. Eating right/healthy. This isn’t so much a beauty resolution, but I believe to look your best on the outside, you have to take care of your insides too. And in the quest to look amazing, eating the right things, and eating healthy will certainly be a plus point, and note to self, more water!
3. Choosing the right products. Sometimes we’re caught up in how a product looks, and and what they claim to do, that we fail to see what it is exactly we are using on delicate skin and body. Its high time I start looking beyond the packaging, and to shift to more natural, less chemical based products, and I’m sure my skin will thank me in the long run.Brands like Yadah are certainly going to be my go to products from now on since they offer natural goodness and organic products! Yay to going GREEN!!

Lets see if I manage to keep my promises this year.

I cant wait to experience the hands-on session and discover more about Yadah skincare and cosmetics this coming January. It will be an awesome way to start of my new year, and another chance to be around the lovely butterflies!

Have you decided what your beauty resolutions are for this year? Let me know!
