The Nars Christopher Kane Collection & a New Nars Outlet!

Hey guys,

I realize I haven’t updated my blog in almost a month, and this is not typical of me. I usually get at least 5-10 posts up a month, but recently I’ve been slacking. I’ve got no excuses other than the fact that I’ve been constantly tired, busy, and lazy 😦  Lets see if I can remember how to use this thing again 😀

Well, updates on life? Not much other than enjoying the new job that has been keeping me busy, eating a lot of good food, working out to keep the food from turning into flab, and buying a lot of clothes & shoes. To be honest, I’ve not bought much makeup recently, and the only thing I’ve got my eye on at the moment is the Limited Edition Guerlain Meteorites Rainbow Pearls for Summer 2015. That baby, I’m sure to buy soon!

On to the post for today, remember the days where you had to trek our way thorough the horrendous KL traffic to get to Pavilion if you wanted anything at all from Nars Cosmetics? Well not anymore. Now you can make your way straight to Mid Valley Mall where the newest Nars store is located. Well to be honest, traffic in MV on the weekends are equally bad, but at least we have an option closer to home now.

I had the opportunity to recently sneak  preview into the store, and also to have a first look at the newly launched LE Christopher Kane Collection. Looking at the new store, The MV outlet is certainly much more spacious, and even has a secret private room at the back. 🙂 There is definitely more seating available for new customers to come in and try the Nars products available.

Optimized-Nars Christopher Kane Collection Review (3)

For Summer 2015, NARS introduces The Christopher Kane for NARS Collection – NEONEUTRAL, a limited edition collection of unexpected shades and formulas inspired by the nature of neon and the nude shades that complement them.

The collection, which showcases Christopher Kane’s unexpected and edgy design aesthetic with NARS’ iconic and bold beauty philosophy, is the first fashion collaboration to feature a full line of eyeshadows, Blushes, Illuminating Multiples, and Lip Glosses. Eyes are enhanced with iridescent rose gold, pink lilac, and violet. Cheeks are flushed with soft beige or hot pink. And lips are saturated in high-shine shades of neon pink and coral that subtly stain after the gloss is gone.

There are 9 items in the collection comprising 4 lip glosses, 1 Nars Illuminating Multiple, 3 blushes & a single, and duo eyeshadow.

The Neoneutrals collection is certainly an oxymoron, since how does one combine Neon & Neutrals in makeup? But this collection captures Neon & Neutrals so well with it vibrant colours that apply to a beautiful neutral finish.

I gotta say, the blushes & eye shadows are the most beautiful things I’ve ever set my eyes on. The single eye shadow in the shade Outer Layer was one of the items I planned to get my hands on, but it was sold out the second day the collection launched. I tell you, the Malaysian Nars fanbase are one dedicated bunch!

The blush that I fell in love with, and did manage to get was the bright pink Starscape. Now I realize that the blush look REALLY pink, but trust me when I say it is best applied with a light touch, even on tanned skin tones like mine, and it gives off the most beautiful glow!

Optimized-Nars Christopher Kane Collection Review (5)

A close look at how bright the blush is. ❤ Love love love! If you notice on the wee right, the Silent Nude blush sits silently, lol! The blush is a nude shade, which somewhat doesn’t apply well on me as a blush, but as an eye shadow, it’s just so beautiful. Who said makeup isn’t versatile?

Optimized-Nars Christopher Kane Collection Review (6)

Swatches of Starscape & Silent Nude. The pigmentation is no joke, as it goes with all Nars products.

Swatches of the lipglosses. From the top, Glow Pink, Nucleus, Nebulous, Mezmer.

Price points for each of the items. The price range is your standard Nars pricing, and I love that the pricing doesn’t increase for LE collections. Guerlain, you guys better take note. :/

I didn’t manage to take a swatch of the eye shadows or the Multiple, but I can assure you that they are amazingly gorgeous as well.

And I’ll end the post with a shot of gorgeous desserts. ❤

All in all, the Christopher Kane collection is definitely one to look out for, and I suggest you head over to your nearest Nars store for a look!

[Review] Nars Dual-Intensity Blush in Panic

Namastey boys and girls!

This post has been sitting in my draft folder for the longest time, so I finally decided to get off my lazy behind and pen down some of my personal thoughts on the Nars Dual Intensity blush. We all know how popular the regular Nars blushes are, so lets take a look at how these new ones fare, shall we?

I only picked up the shade Panic out of the 6 shades available, and I’ll tell you why in a bit.

[Review] Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Caramel

I’ve been doing some soul-searching in regards to this blog. One fine morning, I decided to read through my previous posts, dating back to the first post I wrote in August 2013, just on a whim. I feel that over the past year and a half, I’ve lost the touch and real-ness to my writing. I feel that my older writings used to be the actual me, speaking to you guys, but now, its like I’ve changed. I don’t see myself reflected in my words anymore, and I haven’t the faintest idea as to why. Maybe I’ve changed as a person, maybe my passion for blogging has just took a downward spiral, or possibly, I’m just going through a rough patch in life atm.

Anyway, past my jumbled, messy thoughts, and onto something radiant!

I picked up the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer a while ago, and to be very honest, I only bought it since I couldn’t stand the amazing raves on it no more, and curiosity was killing me. I got colour matched to Caramel, which is a medium dark yellow with golden undertones. I initially thought I could be in the shade Amande based off online swatches, but turns out that was too dark on me, and Biscuit was just a shade lighter than I needed. If you need a proper colour match, please do try this on in store.

PS: Have I mentioned that I like how all their shades for the Radiant Creamy Concealers are in food or drink names?

Optimized-Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer Review Caramel (3)

Product Description: Coveted by artists for its luxurious texture and luminous finish, new Radiant Creamy Concealer evens skin with lightweight medium to high buildable coverage. Enriched with hydrating, multi-action skin care benefits and light diffusing technology, it creates a softer, smoother complexion while instantly obscuring imperfections and diminishing fine lines and signs of fatigue. Long wearing and crease-proof. Paraben-free, alcohol free, synthetic fragrance free & non comedogenic.

NARS has shades in 3 intensities, Light, Medium and Dark and the numbers on the shades indicate the intensity, so like mine, which is in Med/Dark 2.

Packaging wise, it comes in a sleek, slim tube, & the tip of the cap is in the typical Nars rubber. The applicator is your doe foot tip, which makes product application a breeze. Though be sure to not to pick up too much product, as the tip sometimes tends to pick up a big dollop of concealer, so what I do is I scrape it off the sides. You get 6ml of product in this, so if you’re a heavy concealer user, this will last you, say 2-3 months?

The ingredient list 🙂

Product swatches. As you can see, once blended out, Caramel gives off a very nice, smooth finish. Its medium to slightly full coverage, and is easily buildable should you need to.

In case you needed to know what the other 9 shades look, like, here you go! I love Nars, just because they cover every single shade in the skin spectrum, from the fairest to the tannest of us.

Personal Thoughts: I cannot stop using this concealer, really. I’ve used a few concealers in my time, and this one tops the list! First of all, it’s so creamy & blend able, and it just melts onto my skin, providing the coverage that I need. Creamy, but not thick and cakey. As you can see in the pictures below, I usually dot them under my eyes, making a sort of Y shape, and blend with my middle finger. I find that this concealer works much better when blended using my fingers, rather than a brush, & I suspect its due to the warmth of my hands that makes easier. I just dot, tap away till it’s all smooth & blended!

You can see my before & after pics, so you tell me if this concealer isn’t just marvelous? Not only does it covers what needs to be covered, it also makes my skin look much more radiant. Love! It dries off to a velvety powdery finish, and I don’t even have to set it with powder to make it last all day. It really doesn’t budge. And an added bonus? It never settles into any fine lines. Not that I have that many yet, (touch wood!) but it doesn’t crease nor cake on me.

Though this concealer was meant for the eye area, I find that I use it almost all over my face, and it works just dandy. It literally may be the one concealer to rule them all. 😀

Pardon me bushy brows. :/

I can’t rave about this product any more than I have, but I just love it! The raves are spot on, because this is one product that you just have to try, and voila, true love forever! I will say this though, it’s definitely pricey for a concealer at RM106, but I think it’s worth my every penny. And yes, I bought this meself, so this is not a sponsored post in case you were wondering. So yes, go forth and purchase this before the price increase hits post GST! ❤ I know I personally bought a butt load of makeup, and I’m still buying more today 🙂 That and groceries for the next decade, lol!

Nars Adult Swim (5)

Nars Baalbek Eye Paint

Nars Adult Swim (7)

Baalbek is one of the first items I swatched, and boy, am I glad I did! Baalbek is described as an intense shimmery bronze eye paint, which basically means that they can double up as either a gel eye liner or a base for your eye shadow.  I personally prefer using it as a base for my shadows since I like my liners to be a matte black, but that’s just my personal preference. For your reference though, I have used it as a gel liner in the pic below so that you can see how it looks on 🙂

Nars Iraklion Soft Touch Pencil

Nars Adult Swim (1)

Iraklion was one of my favourite items in the lot, which is very surprising considering the reviews out there for Iraklion weren’t too kind to it. It appears as a  beautiful tan brown with a pink undertone which is reminiscent of a champagne sheen (no glitter there!). Iraklion can double up as either your eye shadow base or a simple cream shadow. I use it as an eyeshadow and then feather it out & it gives me such a beautiful looking colour. I was initially worried that it will look too fair on my olive-y skin tone, but my worries was dissipated the moment I applied it!

The texture is great, its soft, but not too soft that you apply way to much of it (which sometimes happens to me and cream shadows), and it blends easily. The con of the Iraklion that gets so many reviewers out there booing it? It doesn’t last very long, and it creases within hours which is exactly what I faced as well. Too bad about that considering its a great product in all other aspects.

Nars Hot Sand Illuminator

Nars Adult Swim (3)

Nars have hit all my right spots with this soft peachy, rose quartz, champagne coloured liquid highlighter. The moment I applied this onto my cheekbones, I was like, woahhh ❤ I can haz cheekbones! The effect is so subtle, but definitely noticeable. It gives off that dewy glow that one always can appreciate in the hot summertime.

Swatches for your kind perusal 🙂

Nars Adult Swim (4)

This is a quick look I pulled off with the 3 products above, and topped of my lips with the Bourjois Rouge Edition in No 18. I realize that the lip colour is an autumn shade in a summer time post, but forgive me, I only own vampy, autumny or red lippies. What do you think though? Can you see how Hot Sand illuminates my nose bridge and cheekbones?

Nars Adult Swim (6)

A quick close up of Iraklion & Baalbek ❤ Not very noticeable, but I prefer the natural, sun-kissed, glowy look.

Nars Adult Swim (2)

Do you like any of the items from the Nars Summer Collection 2014? Have you purchased any yourself?
