[Review] Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in San Paulo, Monte Carlo & Copenhagen

Be warned. This post is going to be a complete ode to the Nyx Soft Matte Lip Creams. 😀

So you guys remember the last time I reviewed the Nyx SMLC in Amsterdam? Long story short, I loved it so much that I needed more shades. The problem in hand? My local Sephora outlets never seemed to have them in stock. (Yes, all of the outlets. That’s how much I’ve searched for these babies all over Kuala Lumpur. 😦 )

I finally decided to purchase them online instead of wasting my time searching the Sephora outlets, via an instagram shop called Doodle Toodle. Their service was awesome, my products reached me in approximately 20 days, and I’m even going to put in a new order for some Colour Pop Cosmetics in the next few days.

I picked up the 3 shades that I wanted the most, which was 08 San Paulo, 10 Monte Carlo & 20 Copenhagen.

[Review] Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in Amsterdam & 200th Post Excitement!

200th Post!!! I cant believe I’ve actually written 200 legible, decent posts for the world to view, judge & read ❤  *Pats on my back* I promise to write more posts and to try & blog more frequently. Amen.

It seems that one person can’t get enough of lippies, and I’ll be the first to admit that I’m utterly obsessed with lipsticks, lip glosses & everything lip related in this world. Considering this is my third lip product review in a row for the past week, I can safely I’m an official lip addict now.

Nyx has been one of the more affordable brands available at Sephora, and the quality can rival any proper luxury brand. I’ve reviewed a couple of things from them, like the Shimmer Powders, eyeliners, liquid lipsticks, etc. I was never very keen on the Nyx Soft Matte Lip Creams so much, and despite all the raves, I steered clear from them.

I guess I finally caved in to the reviews, and so I bought the reddest of the lot for myself. The Nyx Soft Matte Lip Creams are available in 22 shades which you can check out here. Amsterdam, which is the one I have here is described as a true red, though on this camera & lighting it pictures as a slightly coral tone, weirdly enough.

Review Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream (5)

The packaging is pretty straightforward, a twist tube with a doe foot applicator which does the job of application decently. There is 8ml of product in the tube, which personally lasted me all of 2 months. Yeap, I have officially hit tube on this, and I’ll tell you why in a bit ! 🙂

Product Description: Neither lipstick nor lip gloss, this matte lip cream is a new kind of lip color that goes on silky smooth and sets to a matte finish. Soft Matte Lip Cream is surprisingly durable and, unlike some matte lipstick formulas, also moisturizing. It is a highly pigmented, matte lip cream that allows you yo creates various matte lip looks & we love it for being delightfully creamy and lightweight.

Review Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream (3)

The lip cream does indeed dry to a matte finish, and I assure you, it is the least drying sort of matte you can ever get your hands on. Its so smooth, creamy, & soft! They stay on for 4-5 hours, and even after eating, drinking & gossiping, they leave your lips a beautifully stained.

And the most important reason why I love these? They smell like EFFING CUPCAKES! Imagine lacing your lips with a lipstick that smells like cake batter, cupcake frosting & melted butter, all at the same time. A swipe of the SMLC is all the dessert you need for the day. I confess to also occasionally, randomly opening the tube of SMLC during the day just to catch a whiff of the cupcake scent. And it has helped me with my sugar cravings too, lol! Everytime I feel like eating a bar of chocolate, I take a sniff of this instead!

That will explain how I’ve hit bottom on this tube of lip cream. I already have a backup of it, plus a couple of other shades as well, you know, just in case. 😉

The scent does disappear after a while (le sigh), so for those of you who don’t feel like cupcakes (how could you not though??), not to fret, no scent is noticeable after 10 minutes or so.

Swatches of my veins for your viewing pleasure.

Review Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream (7)

The Nyx Soft Matte Lip Creams retail at RM26 at all local Sephora outlets, but do remember that the SMLC’s sell out like hot cakes, literally, so if you see it in stock somewhere, and you wondering if you should come back to get it, don’t. Just take this baby home, ASAP. You wont regret it.

Closing thoughts from me? I love this, and I will never, ever, say no to a Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream, ever again. And I solemnly swear to buy the whole range of shades for my personal pleasure.

Mischief Managed.

PS: Sorry if this post seems a little cheeky & nonsensical, I’m feeling slightly high on life today. Plus I’m on some meds, so that may have contributed to the high, haha.
Ok, Bye. (Please sing in Frozen tune for optimum humour)

Nyx Retractable Eye Liner Review : Of Silky Cashmere & New Found Loves

I know, I haven’t blogged in a few days now, please don’t shoot *raises hands in the air*

I try to blog as much as I can, but sometimes I do get caught up with something I like to call life,  and I also have been enjoying some lazy days & catching up my favourite TV shows like  Modern Family & HIMYM, plus I just had a really lovely weekend shopping outing with my girlfriends, so I’m all refreshed, energized and super duper motivated  to start blogging now 😉

If you read my NYX Roll on Shimmer Review, I mentioned an eye liner that I was loving very much, an I’ll tell you exactly why you should own one of these lovely liners!

shashay (1)

First of all, its NYX, so you know its affordable and has great quality. Thumbs up if you’re a NYX fan!

Secondly, lets talk eye liner. Tell me you have at least 10-15 eye liners lying around in your make-up drawers, because I think I have wayyyy more, and I need someone to justify my addiction to eye liners. I absolutely adore eyeliners, and I probably have them in every shade imaginable although I mostly use my brown, black & sometimes blue ones when I’m feeling a little wild. 😉

A little about these retractable eye liners by NYX. They come in 18 shades, but Sephora Malaysia only carries 3 shades at the moment, which is Black, Silky Cashmere and Olive Green. 😦

Really Sephora, you couldn’t give us all 18 shades?

I must tell you, the swatches of the rest of the 15 shades are gorgeous! I had a look online, and I know I really must get my hands on the Gypsy Blue, Deep Blue & Purple.

The NYX Retractable Eye Liner in the shade Silky Cashmere comes in a very creamy, pinky-brown colour with shimmery finish and looks absolutely divine. The eye liner is retractable, which is GREAT, because I hate sharpening my pencils, and I hate the wood of the pencils that sometimes poke you in the eye. =_=”

shashay (2)

The swatch looks great on medium brown tones skin like mine and gives off a very Cleopatra vibe. It slides on creamily, and  produces such a lovely glow!

shashay (4)

The liner lasts approximately 8-9 hours in our Malaysian tropical weather, and it doesn’t budge at all.

Personal Comments: I love using this liner to line my lower lash line and it really makes my eyes look so sparkly!

And you know how make up artists say white eyeliner brings out a pop in our eyes? THEY LIE.

you_liar

Well at least they are lying to all the brown skinned girls.

Brown girls and white eyeliner do not mix together, so if you’re brown skinned like me and you need that pop, I suggest Silky Cashmere. The gold flecks in the liner brings out our lovely olive skin tone and gives us the glow we’re looking for. *throws white liners out of the window*

The Retractable Eye Liner retails for RM20 and is available at all Sephora Malaysia stores.

Note: I had to go to 3 different Sephora’s to track these babies down. They get sold out super fast and the Sephora staff always tell me they’re out of stock. They also tell me that the NYX Liquid Illuminator is out of stock everywhere and I cant get my hands on them too. Damnit.

If you see the Liquid Illuminator in stock somewhere, can you readers please buy me one? 😦

Let me know in the comments if this is something you would want to get for yourself, and if you’ve used similar liners before! I need your thoughts!

Oh and BTW, I got my hands on some Hydraluron during my shopping trip, and I’m excited to try it out! Have you used it? Any results? Stay tuned if you want an in depth review of Hydraluron 🙂

Nyx Roll On Shimmer Review : Walnut

Hello awesomesauces!

The first post of February is here!

So the other day I was doing my usual Sephora browsing/stalking, and obviously I headed over to the NYX counter ; they have the best stuff at super affordable prices! I picked up a couple of stuff, including this one eye pencil which I’m loving, I’ll do a review ASAP, and one of the other products was the NYX Roll On Shimmer. NYX has a whole range of shades to choose from and I was torn between the earthy shades of Walnut, Nude and  Almond.

Finally picked up Walnut since it was the least ostentatious colour on my skin, and had a lovely earthy shade which I can use on a daily basis 🙂

shashay (2)

The Roll On Shimmers come in a tube, which is roll on, duh, but I would recommend not using the tube outright as the glitters do get everywhere. You’d need an eye brush to avoid looking like a hot mess. The glitter is quite powdery, so a little would go a long way with these babies.

The swatch on the left is just one quick swipe, and the right one shows 2 swipes. See how glittery and sparkly they are? Reminds me of Dazzle Dusts 🙂

Walnut is described as iced mocha with silver glitters, which is exactly what it is. You can see the silver bits in the picture on the right.

shashay (3)

They colours are lovely aren’t they? After using them, I realized a couple of things.

You can apply this all over your eyelid by itself for that subtle sparkle, or you can use this at the outer corners for a nice finish or in the middle of the eyelid to give that extra ooomphh to your eye makeup. The colour shows up very sheer when blended, so if you’re looking for an intense look, just pat this on with your eye brush.

A primer is a must with these shimmers or they will fall out and you’ll look like the 4th of July parade =) I also noticed that they wash out with water very easily, so no jumping into pools with this!

I sometimes use this with the Maybelline Colour tattoos as a base, add in some Factory from my Naked 3 palette, and then Walnut on the outer corners.

I also tried using the shimmers with a giant fluffy brush, and lightly dusted it all over my chest and shoulder, and it shows up beautifully! It would look so good on a night out or a date even 😉

Have you tried using the Roll on Shimmers before? NYX has about 12 colours to choose from so I’m thinking of getting more, maybe going back for Almond and Nude. If you’ve tried them let me know what you think of them, and what your favourite shades are!

They retail for RM19 at all Sephora Malaysia outlets.

And don’t forget to join my current giveaway here to win some lovely Yadah goodies!

NYX Xtreme Lip Cream in Absolute Red : Review & Swatches

Hello awesomesauces!

Today is a review of a product I am very much in love with, owing to the fact that this is my third tube of it! I first came across the NYX Xtreme Lip Cream in Absolute Red when I was randomly browsing in Sephora. *I always do this at least a few times a month, and spend at least one hour in there. The staff must think me cray cray*

But I never really noticed the Nyx Lip Creams before, and when I finally did, I never turned back from them. I only use red lip products most of the time, so I picked up the Absolute Red since it was the reddest one available. The lip cream comes in a lipgloss packaging and is very creamy in texture. Duh.

shashay

See how pigmented it is?

shashay

The swatch is so lovely isnt it?

shashay

The first time I wore it, I went WTFOMGGG! It was super red, like vampire/cherry/blood red, the exact shade I have always wanted on my lips. And the pigmentation is to die for, its so so red. The lip cream is a hybrid of lipstick and lip gloss, so it feels matte like lipstick, but looks moderately shiny like lipgloss.

shashay

Its such a lovely, dark mysterious shade and it would look great on any girl. The first coat on my lips makes me have lovely vampire red lips, and oh so sexy. You don’t have to use a lot, even the first swipe shows a beautiful pigmented shade. One thing though, since it is very intense, I would suggest lip liner first to avoid bleeding.I would say that this is a pretty strong colour, so take extra time to apply and make sure it looks nice and neat.

The lip cream is thick, and very moisturizing, but not sticky like lip gloss. You know how annoying it is when your hair gets stuck in  your lip gloss? *lipgloss fury*  Also, this product smells sweet and buttery, but its not overpowering and fades after a while.

It lasts for several hours on your lips, it will fade with time, eating, drinking and kissing *LOL*, but leaves behind a very nice red lip colour  just like a lip stain.

I also tried using it after blotting with a napkin, and it left this beautiful, natural red shade. Its a lovely colour for a night out or an event.

So final my thoughts?

Pros:

  • Awesome shade of red
  • Lasts longer than your average lipgloss
  • Cheap, only RM 26
  • Not sticky
  • Smells good
  • VERY pigmented

Cons:

  • NONE from me. Tell me if you’ve tried this product and found anything wrong without it.

I love the lip cream so much, and I’ll definitely be purchasing my fourth tube soon! The NYX Xtreme Lip Cream in Absolute Red is available in all Sephora outlets for RM26.

Shashay
