My Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette!

Hello awesomesauces!!

Yes, as the title says, I’ve got my Naked 3!!!!!!! OMGGEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The customary photo to prove I have it! ūüôā

I went first thing this morning to Starhill Sephora to get mine, and there were loads of ladies already in there snapping up the palettes! Luckily I did pre book-mine with Sephora Malaysia, so I didn’t have to worry about them running out!

Now I know ya’ll are wanting reviews, so here we go! ¬†Before you read this post, I would suggest you to check out the complete picture review with swatches ¬†here. ¬†My camera sucks, so my photos don’t do justice to the colours.

The palette. A nice shiny box for me for Christmas. This is how I’m justifying my purchase.

Anyway, my first impression of the palette as I was swatching it in Sephora is that there was a lot of shimmery rose gold shades in this palette, and I was particularly worried on how it would translate on darker skin tones like mine. Luckily, I swatched every single colour on my eyelid, and it seems that Dust is the only colour that doesn’t seem to work well for me. I’m thinking of using Dust as a highlight colour more than anything, since the colour is just too light for me.

It comes with the 4 samples of primer potion, Original, Eden, Sin (shimmer), and Anti-Aging, and apparently each pod lasts you a week! I think I can make them last longer!

Naked 3 also comes with a synthetic dual-ended eyeshadow brush (blending and flat) which is awesome, and easy to use.

The palette!

Strange: A very light, cream coloured matte shade. This shade seems to be more of a highlight type, and is super pigmented, which means I have to take extra care not to use too much or it will look too fair on me.

Dust: SHIMMER. My first thoughts was OMG why is this shade so shimmery? And why does it seem chalky? When swatching Dust, there was shimmer EVERYWHERE! So do take extra care with this colour, since there is a lot of fallout. It’s a soft rosy pink colour. and once blended though, it seems to become more opaque, and I think it would look gorgeous on fairer skin tones! Personally, Dust is a highlight colour for me.

Burnout: This is actually my favourite shade along with Trick. It is somewhat bronzy, pink based metallic like, and not much shimmer in it. When I was swatching it, there was not much fall out like Dust, so imma happy girl! I think I’ll be using Burnout a lot!

Limit: Matte, creamy and seems to be a light mauve colour. It looks pinky in the palette, but once swatched, seems to appear darker.

Buzz: A metallic, shimmery, mauve colour. Seems to go with the rose gold theme of the palette, and I was happy to see that this does not have much fall out. A very soft colour, and I think this colour is perfect for everyday.

Trick: My second favourite shade! Most of the eye shadows palettes I own usually contain a colour like Trick, so I can say that Trick is going to be one of my go to colours! It’s a gold, shimmery, metallic shade, but the gold is not like yellow gold, its more of an orange based gold.

Nooner: Matte, and seems to be a darker mauve colour, compared to Limit. Is a shade suitable for everyday, although it’s not as pigmented as Limit is.

Liar: Metallic, not so shimmery, bronze, and seems to be a satin finish to me. Factory actually has a satin finish as well.  This colour goes on beautifully on my lids, and I love it!

Factory: Like Liar, its metallic, not so much shimmer, a darker brown shade really. It seems to not fit with the rose gold pink theme of the palette, but does contain pink micro glitters. And what the heck, its such a beautiful shade!

Mugshot: I’d take my mugshot wit this shade! Its a lovely dusky brown, bronze, metallic, and is the MOST pigmented colour in the palette apart from Blackheart.

Darkside: This actually the lightest and sheerest colour in the palette, and it takes a bit of work to build this colour on your lids. Its a dark taupe-plum colour, with very little shimmer in it, but it catches the light beautifully.

Blackheart: This is describe on the box, as a black matte with red micro glitter in it, which I somewhat agree. Yes the red micro glitter is there, but this isn’t a black matte ¬†shade, its more like a dark plum coloured tone to me. It’s not black, that’s for sure. Its super pigmented, and a little chalky, maybe because of the micro glitters in it.

Link to the photos in my previous post here.

Overall thoughts: For 12 colours, worth Rm188, I think it’s a pretty awesome buy, and I think I’m going to use this palette a lot, especially for events, since the colours and shimmers would look great in photos. And as all Urban Decay shades are, they are all heavily pigmented, and have great depth. I only have issues with Dust, cause I hate the amount of fall out it produces, and the fact that it’s so sheer. Apart from that, I also don’t fancy the smell of the shadows (yes I smell my shadows), it smells a bit weird to me. But once it goes on your lids, the smell disappears, so no issues there.

What do you think? Are you buying it? Yes, No, Maybe, Don’t know?
PS: The palette is available at all Sephora Malaysia outlets for RM188.

Let me know what you think in the comments!

Loreal Super Liner Blackbuster Review

Hello awesomesauces!

I’m back again with another review, and today, its the Loreal¬†Super Liner Blackbuster Liquid Liner in Extra Black!¬†

Now I love eyeliners, I’ve used them since I was like I dunno, 12, 13? And I definitely have more eyeliners than I would admit, since they seem to be the one thing I keep buying and never finishing em up! I look super pale/zombie-fied without any eyeliner on, so yeah, eyeliner is my BFFFFF!¬†My personal preference is to use liquid liner for the top eyelid, and pencil for the lower lid. They smudge less that way! And I have mastered the art of the perfect cat eye, and even bold lines with an awesome flick!¬†

*did a quick headcount and found out I have more than 7 types of liquid ones, about 10 pencil ones, and only 2 gel ones. Not a big fan of gel liners, too much work methinks*

Anyway, as usual, I was doing my random wandering around in the mall when I came across the  Loreal Super Liner Blackbuster Liquid Liner, and I loved the chunky design of it! I mean, really, how many liners come in such a nice fat permanent marker design? I was sold, and PURCHASE !

The nib of the eyeliner looks like a Sharpie marker pen and its really easy to use since you have a firm grip on the pen, just like holding a marker. It kind of smells like one too, but the smell does disappear and doesn’t stick to your skin. It comes in an all black outer design with gold writing ¬†and embellishments. ¬†It is really easy to control when drawing your eyes, and despite the thick nib, you can achieve different lines in various thicknesses. The top part is defined, and sharp, so you can create thin lines, and the bottom part is rounded, so a thicker line can be achieved.

The eyeliner really dries quickly and leaves a matte finish, and doesn’t smudge even after vigorous wiping and rubbing!¬†

From top to bottom, Revlon Colour Stat Liquid Eye Liner in Black , Loreal Super Liner Ultra Precision Black, Loreal Super Liner Blackbuster(thinly drawn), Loreal Super Liner Blackbuster (thickly drawn).

You can see how pigmentted the Blackbuster really is!

And I did a quick comparison with the Loreal Super Liner Ultra Precision Black as well just to show you how thick the nib is!

And how it looks drawn. Left pic shows a thicker line, right one shows the thin line. (1 coat)

So what do I think , and how does this eye liner score?

Pigmentation: Awesome, super duper black! However you may need 2 coats for a darker colour.

Ease of use: Super easy to use, just like a felt tip pen. But some of you may like smaller less chunky liners.

Durability: Lasts a good 7-8 hours without smudging, or needing reapplication.

Price: It retails for about Rm35/GBP 6.99/ at most drugstores.

Scent: A little like a marker pen, so some of you may not like it.

I would say its about 7/10 , since I find myself using this quite often since I got it. And for the price, definitely not a bad buy.

What do you think? What is your go to eye liner? Let me know in the comments, I wanna know if there are other treasures waiting to be tried and tested too!

NYX Xtreme Lip Cream in Absolute Red : Review & Swatches

Hello awesomesauces!

Today is a review of a product I am very much in love with, owing to the fact that this is my third tube of it! I first came across the NYX Xtreme Lip Cream in Absolute Red when I was randomly browsing in Sephora. *I always do this at least a few times a month, and spend at least one hour in there. The staff must think me cray cray*

But I never really noticed the Nyx Lip Creams before, and when I finally did, I never turned back from them. I only use red lip products most of the time, so I picked up the Absolute Red since it was the reddest one available. The lip cream comes in a lipgloss packaging and is very creamy in texture. Duh.

See how pigmented it is?

The swatch is so lovely isnt it?

The first time I wore it, I went WTFOMGGG! It was super red, like vampire/cherry/blood red, the exact shade I have always wanted on my lips. And the pigmentation is to die for, its so so red. The lip cream is a hybrid of lipstick and lip gloss, so it feels matte like lipstick, but looks moderately shiny like lipgloss.

Its such a lovely, dark mysterious shade and it would look great on any girl. The first coat on my lips makes me have lovely vampire red lips, and oh so sexy. You don’t have to use a lot, even the first swipe shows a beautiful pigmented shade. One thing though, since it is very intense, I would suggest lip liner first to avoid bleeding.I would say that this is a pretty strong colour, so take extra time to apply and make sure it looks nice and neat.¬†

The lip cream is thick, and very moisturizing, but not sticky like lip gloss. You know how annoying it is when your hair gets stuck in  your lip gloss? *lipgloss fury*  Also, this product smells sweet and buttery, but its not overpowering and fades after a while.

It lasts for several hours on your lips, it will fade with time, eating, drinking and kissing *LOL*, but leaves behind a very nice red lip colour  just like a lip stain.

I also tried using it after blotting with a napkin, and it left this beautiful, natural red shade. Its a lovely colour for a night out or an event.

So final my thoughts?

  • Awesome shade of red
  • Lasts longer than your average lipgloss
  • Cheap, only RM 26
  • Not sticky
  • Smells good
  • VERY pigmented

  • NONE from me. Tell me if you’ve tried this product and found anything wrong without it.¬†

I love the lip cream so much, and I’ll definitely be purchasing my fourth tube soon!¬†The¬†NYX Xtreme Lip Cream in Absolute Red is available in all Sephora outlets for RM26.¬†

Carol Priest: Cleansing Milk & Damask Rose Toner Review

Hello awesomepeoples!!

I haven’t been updating as much as I want to, thanks to a super busy time at work, but YAY NEW POST!¬†

I received this from HiShop a few days ago, and imma happy girl! They sent it out and I received it the next day, awesome service I must say! Lets un-box my box of goodies shall we?

The star brand of the day?
Carol Priest

Now I have never used this brand before, so I’m pretty excited to write about it; I mean the best part about a brand is discovering something totally new and different.

A little introductions are in order, so say hello to Carol Priest!

They started out as a small brand in New Zealand, *think fresh green lush surroundings*, and they specialized in making herbal skin care products. And they started wayy back in 1991,  that makes them about 20 years old.

The interesting thing about CP is that they hand make and prepare the products to ensure freshness and so that the goodness in the products are retained. Very similar to theSkintopic I notice, I guess New Zealand brands practice this religiously.

Each product they make contains special mixes of proven botanicals with absolutely no mineral oils to act as carriers. So say no to clogged pores.

Their light product colours and scents come from ALL  natural sources. Instead of chemicals/synthetic fragrances, they use essential oils, in its unadulterated form.( meaning not mixed or diluted with any different or extra elements; complete and absolute).

Combine all of the above, and you get an amazing line of natural, fresh, & quality products!

I recieved 5 products from the Carol Priest brand, courtesy of HiShop, so I’m going to break em down to two posts so that you dont have ANOTHER super long post from me *thousand apologies*

#1 : Orangeflower Cleansing Milk for all skin types (30 ml)

  • This is a light cleansing milk, which was made to cleanse all types of skin, yay to no skin discrimination =D
  • It contains¬†cold pressed essential oils of lemon, bitter orange and sweet orange included for their astringent tonifying (is that a word?) and cleansing properties.
  • And it contains sweet almond oil and¬†cold pressed jojoba oil that helps to nourish skin!¬†

Active Ingredients:
Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) , Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantium Amara (Bitter Orange ) Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange)Flower Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary ) Leaf Extract.

It comes in a very beautiful glass bottle and  upon first smelling it, I think it smells very citrusy!

How to use? Its actually quite similar to an  oil cleanse .

  1. First, skin has to be super clean and free from any dirt, bacteria and oils. Apply a small amount, or you can also use a lot! I used a penny sized dollop.
  2.  Make a warm compress using a clean wash cloth and apply firmly to the face and neck areas for a few minutes. This helps to open pores and dissolve any oils on your skin.
  3. The soaking of clean skin helps the aromatic essential oils and plant oils dissolve and soften skin.
  4. Massage the cleansing milk into the skin and neck, let it slowly absorb into your skin, and do avoid the eye area. I did this massage for like 5 minutes. Use small circular motions and create a light lather.
  5. Remove the milk using a warm wash cloth. Rinse any traces of the milk  by splashing warm water over your face and neck.
  6. Optional* finish with a cold compress and rinse.

PS: This product is not suitable for pregnant women.

My face after using the cleaning milk. Not too bad, quite clear. LOL

So what do I think?

Scent: A very nice light citrus smell, I like it, my skin smells fresh. Smells a lot like herbs and fresh forests comes to mind.
Lather: It lathers really well, you only need a small amount to get the whole face, and its really creamy, like massaging milk on your skin!
Removing: Since I’m using the warm water and wash cloth, it removes all traces of the milk perfectly, but if you were just to use normal temperature water and just your hands, *AND I tried this way as well*, it leaves a slight oily feel, which I dont really mind, since I have dry skin, but if this would bother you, I’d suggest you to use the wash cloth =)
End result: I think it leaves my skin feeling very smooth, and it is very moisturizing. After a few days using this milk, my skin feels more supple and it kind of glows!

I rate this product an 8 out of 10 points.

Pros: An awesome product as a whole. Not much to complain about, I didnt have any breakouts from the milk, and no adverse effects. Plus I have glowy skin now, so YES!
Cons: Just like the Oil Cleanse, this takes patience and time, and I think its worth it, since great skin takes effort and some time.

This product retails at HISHop for RM85.00 for 30 ml but they’re having a massive discount now *see below*

  • Apply morning and night. Use it alone or after cleansing.
  • Use it to freshen up at any time of day or whenever skin feels dry. Spray onto the face and neck, avoiding the eye area

Active Ingredients:
Distilled Water (Aqua), Rosa Damascena Flower Oil.

How to use?

  1. I saturate a cotton pad with about one teaspoon of toner.(I’m using my Lilian Bell Cotton )
  2. Gently apply it to my cleansed face and neck.
  3. Leave to dry!

PS: This product is not suitable for pregnant women.

Pat Pat Pat!

So what do I think?

Scent:¬†A very strong rose scent, so if you’re a fan of roses, you’re in luck! Your skin smells like roses for at least an hour after application. I smell like a rose garden now!
Application: Simple and easy, and it dries pretty quickly too, within 2-3 minutes, and leaves a nice tingly feeling afterwards.
End result: I think it leaves my skin feeling very nice smelling, and I like the smell, makes me smell all girly and feminine.

I rate this product an 9 out of 10 points.

Pros: Love the toner, it removes any traces of dirt on my face, and I smell awesome.
Cons: Nothing to comment on =)

Face Shop Cleansing Cream Review

Hello lovelies!

The product for review today? The Face Shop Herb Day 5 Combined Cereal Cleansing Cream.

I usually use this product only on the days where I have heavy make up on my face, ¬†which isn’t always. most of the time, I’ll just use my Maybelline make-up remover. This product works amazing in removing all those heavy foundations, concealer and powder you’ve got on.

This is how it looks:

Its a heavy cream, much like the texture of body lotion, also quite oily as well, and pretty simple to use.It smells very fresh and creamy, if you get what I mean. I usually just rub a penny sized dollop using my fingers all over my face and it cleans off all the make-up.
If you don’t want the mess of an oily lotion all over your hands, you can always use cotton pads. One problem I have with this is that it does sting a lot if it goes near your eyes, so I wouldn’t recommend this to clean your eye makeup. So BEWARE.

Just rub this on all over your face for about one minute, or you can leave it on longer if you want, then wipe off with cotton pad, or wash straight away with your cleanser if you’re lazy and impatient like me =P…. It leaves your face really soft, moisturized and smelling nice afterwards. I have acne prone skin, and even though this product is super oily and moisturizing, it doesn’t affect my skin at all! A definite win for me!!

I do love this product a lot and will definitely continue to use it. It comes in a 150g jar and it lasts like forever since you only need to use a little each time. It retails for about RM26 plus I think, and lasts for about six months, so it really is a worth it buy.

Sometimes I use this on my hands as well just for the extra moisturized feel, what I do is just lather it all over my hands and wrap my hands in a pair of plastic gloves and just let it sit for like 15-20 minutes. If you add heat, it works better I’ve noticed. Just dip your gloved hands in a bowl of warm water and let it sit. Your hands and nails will feel really good after. Trust me =D

This product is available in all Face Shop stores nationwide in Malaysia!

That’s all from me for now lovelies, do drop me a comment to share your thoughts, ideas or even just to say hi to me!
