[Review] Revlon Nearly Naked Pressed Powder

Hello mah girls!

Me posting 2 posts in a day? I believe this hasn’t happened since…? Oh golly I cant remember! I’ve been extra hardworking today with my blog posts, so lets jump into the review 🙂

I recently got sent the Revlon Nearly Naked Pressed Powder, and I just needed to tell you all about it!

PS: Have you guys noticed how all the brands are jumping onto the Naked Bandwagon? =_=”

Optimized-Revlon Nearly Naked Pressed Powder Review (3)

Product Description: Makeup so refreshingly light it melts right in, creating a fresh, even look. Our pressed powder blends so seamlessly with such a lightweight feel, you may forget you’re wearing any makeup at all. The powder evens skin tone with a non-cakey formula provides a shine-free finish and is available in 6 shades for varying skin tones. (Fair, Light, Medium, Medium Deep, Dark)

Personal Thoughts: The product comes in a sturdy white plastic packaging with 8 g of product.I received the product in the shade 030, Medium which is just right for my tanned skin. There is a small mirror enclosed, which is ideal for quick touch ups, but too tiny to see your whole face, lol! There is a sponge provided for product application, but the sponge is just too small to do much. The sponge actually distributes the product too thickly, and just doesn’t work with the product.

I find that the product applies better with a dense powder brush or a buffing brush. I usually use my Real Techniques Buffing Brush or the RT Powder brush.

The powder is finely milled, and pressed to perfection. The texture is rather powder cream, because it doesn’t apply as loosely as how a normal pressed powder would.

Upon application, there is definitely a more polished look. I usually use this as a setting powder after foundation application, and the coverage is definitely Naked. It doesn’t come off  looking too made up, and skin looks its natural best.

I actually feel like I’m not having any powder on, cause you know how sometimes powder sits on your skin and makes you feel all cakey and thick? Yeah. You don’t get that with this powder. I can’t vouch for the shine free part since my skin doesn’t get too oily most days, but the powder does fade off after 3-4 hours, and re-application is necessary. You can’t help that in a humid weather like ours.

Product swatch as you can see above.

There isn’t any noticeable scent to the product, just your normal powdery scent. The powder washes off with water, which is normal, I don’t think they have invented waterproof powder, or have they?

I guess in a nutshell, it is a great product to own if you prefer natural finishes. I’ve been using this product a lot recently simply because my skin is behaving recently, and I only need a light powder coverage to look smooth.

And the best part? Its affordable too! Only RM39.90 at all local Revlon counters. One thing I’d like to say about Revlon which is amazing, is the fact that ALL their product ranges cater to all skin tones. Malaysia doesn’t carry all the shades most of the time, which is beyond comprehension to me, but they ARE available overseas. Plus, Revlon makes great quality products, all the time!

Ingredients: Talc. Dimethicone. Zinc Stearate. Octyldodecyl Glycol Grapeseedate. Polyethylene. Saccharomyces/Iron Ferment. Saccharomyces/Copper Ferment. Saccharomyces/Silicon Ferment. Saccharomyces/Potassium Ferment. Saccharomyces/Zinc Ferment. Lecithin. Dimethiconol. Isododecane. Sorbic Acid. Methylparaben. May Contain: Mica. Iron Oxides (Ci 77491, 77492, 77499).

A quick recap of my week? Nothing terribly exciting, but I have organized a few beauty swaps for myself for the upcoming months. If you’re not familiar with beauty swaps, it’s basically what it says it is. Swapping beauty related stuff, lol! I’m not entirely familiar with the whole swap idea, and I wanted to see if its actually as fun as it seems. I’ve got a few arranged from the UK & USA, because come on and get real , that’s where all the good stuff are coming from right? I’m terribly excited about it, and I’m looking forward to getting started on the swaps ❤

Some things I really want from overseas? Bourjois, Real Techniques, Hourglass, and my heart will go on, just like the Celine Dion song. 😛

Next juicy bit?

My Sephora USA stuff is here ❤ Me, Cynthia and a few girls decided to combine shipping and get some stuff we wanted from Sephora USA, and they have just arrived! I haven’t received mine yet, but fingers crossed that Cynthia send them over to me in the next couple of days… I got a few high-end items that I’ve been eyeing on that wasn’t available locally, and I will be reviewing them the moment they get into my grubby & greedy hands!

In other news? If you didn’t know I was baby and royal obsessed, now you do. I love babies, and stalking the royals (especially the European ones) are my favourite hobby, so what do you think I’ve been doing lately? For those of you without my stalker tendencies, the British monarchs are currently touring Australia and they just finished with New Zealand I think, and they’ve got baby George with them! He is just too cute!

And he seems super in love with his mom like most babies are..The pictures really are very lovely!

Okay enough royal verbal diarrhea from me! 😛

So I got like almost 500 bucks worth of stuff from L’occitane and a hamper from Revlon! I hope they include some Matte Balms for me! It seems that I’ve been a lucky girl this week 🙂

Standout From The Crowd With The Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms

Judging from the meme, you already know I absolutely love the Revlon Matte Balms.

Do I still need to do the review? No? Okay, bye then !!!

Nahh, I need to do this review and tell the whole universe all about the Revlon Matte Balms, and how they’ve rocked my world! 😯

First of all, allow me to express how disappointed I am that Malaysia does not have all 10 colours of the matte balms.

Revlon Malaysia, why? Why you do this to me? The hoarder in me is crying for all the shades. 😥

Either way, I’ll show you guys all 10 shades okay?  These next two pics credited to:

Swatches from the left : 215 Shameless , 220 Showy, 250 Standout , 240 Striking, 210 Unapologetic  , 225 Sultry  , 205 Elusive , 230 Complex ,235 Mischievous  , 245 Audacious

They look amazing right? Too bad Malaysia only has 8 shades.. 😦 Striking and Elusive are yet to be available to us.

Product Description:  A matte finish that’s beyond plush. Balm that’s beyond comforting. Our Triple Butter Complex of Shea, Coconut and Mango butters nourishes lips. In 10 collectible, craveable colors.

I agree, they ARE craveable colours.

At the moment, I only own the shade Standout which is a blue based red with amazing pigmentation. Based on my crazy swatching of the Matte Balms at Sasa the other day, I would say that all the Matte Balms have amazing pigmentation with striking shades! The colour selection of the Matte Balms are weird though, a red, a few pinks, and suddenly a bright orange. Hmmmm…

Revlon Matte Balm (9)

The Matte Balms come in a bullet packaging, and twists up to reveal the crayons.

One of the things I was quite surprised about was the amount of product in the Matte Balms. As you can see, there isn’t much product. The balms glide on easily, which means its easy to use up a lot of product in one go, and I think one balm can only last me a maximum on 1-2 months.

You stingy Revlon people, I want more product! 😦

Revlon Matte Balm (4)

My ever trusty red lippie in Standout! I find it interesting that the balms have English names, and also French names that are totally different from the English ones!

Revlon Matte Balm (7)

Look at that gorgeous pigmentation! And this coming  from a balm I tell you. As all the other Revlon Balms, the balms leave a minty feeling on application which goes away after an hour or so. I’m not a fan of that minty feel, but since the feel does go away, I’m okay with it.

Revlon Matte Balm (8)

One thing you have to remember at the end of the day, the Matte Balms are balms, and not lipsticks. They don’t exactly dry up like matte lipsticks, so they do have a tendency to smudge, bleed & transfer. I let the swatch above dry for 30 minutes and proceeded to smudge it up with my fingers. See the red mess I created?

On the other hand, they do leave a very nice red stain after all that smudging.

Revlon Matte Balm (2)

Being the red lippie fan that I am, I decided to show you how great it looks on tanned skin!

*My eyebrows, oh gosh. O_o Please ignore them bushy brows.

Revlon Matte Balm (6)

The red shade makes me look  more tanned actually LOL!

Revlon Matte Balm (3)

Personal Thoughts: I love the Matte Balms. The pigmentation is awesomesauce, almost better than a lipstick. The Matte Balm its not as dry as a matte lipstick would be, and is tad more hydrating. The only thing about it is that it does bleed a little. I find that applying some loose powder before applying the balm helps with the bleeding.

The Matte Balm has quite an awesome stay power, and lasts quite a while on the lips even after eating and drinking. I would say 6-7 hours before you need a reapplication. The colour isn’t quite build-able, so what you swipe is what you get. If you try applying more than 1-2 layers, it looks way to heavy and can look a little cakey! And although the balms are called Matte, they aren’t 100% matte, and has a slight shine to it. I give these Matte Balms 5 stars! ⭐

What do you guys think? Matte Balms for the win?? Let me know what you think!

The Revlon Matte Balms are available at local drugstores for RM35.90 (RRP) but I got mine for only RM29.90 so make sure to look for sales first! Also, stocks run out like crazy, so if you find a shade you like, you better get it before someone else does! 😛

Revlon Colorstay Concealer : Does It Cover Those That Need To Stay Undercover?

Considering I have a massive craving for a good glass of wine and a box of chocolates at the moment, this seems appropriate.

There has been much ado about the Revlon Colorstay Range, and the line is most known for its amazing foundations. I must tell you that the Whipped Creme Foundation is the best thing that happened to mankind since the invention of whipped cream. And the best part? The shade Caramel is perfect for my brown skin. Oh the joys of being a brown girl looking for make-up!

Now lets talk concealer. Personally, I don’t have massive problem areas to conceal on my skin except a few blemishes here and there, and some eye bags/suitcases that  have been genetically blessed with. Lucky me 😉

I was in the market for a concealer that could cover my basic issues, and hence, I found the Revlon Colorstay Concealer in the shade Medium! I’ve read quite a bit of reviews about this product, both good and bad, and I thought I’d give this baby a shot and I picked up the shade 04 Medium.

There are 5 shades to choose from; Fair, Light, Light Medium, Medium & Medium Deep, but apparently Malaysia only carries 3 shades which is Light Medium, Medium & Medium Deep.

The name of the product irks me, since its spelled color instead of colour. That’s just me though isn’t? Oh well.
Potato Potato Tomato Tomato.

shashay (2)

Now before I head into the review, I would need to advise you lot that this concealer only has light coverage, so if you need a heavy duty concealer with heavy coverage, this probably isn’t the concealer of your dreams. Sorry peeps 😦

The concealer comes with a doe foot applicator which I always appreciate, and is liquid in texture. (I don’t really fancy cream or stick concealers for some reason) The applicator makes it very easy to dot the concealer onto the specific areas you need extra coverage.

shashay (6)

According to Revlon, this concealer provides 24 hour coverage, covers imperfections, conceals blemishes and dark circles & full yet undetectable coverage.

Why does one need 24 hour coverage? One does not simply wear concealer 24/7.

The formula of the concealer is thick & creamy which will give you that sheer to medium coverage that you’re looking for. The texture of the concealer is great, and it blends very well into my problem areas but one thing about it, is that the formula is quite dry and will crease if you don’t prep your skin well. I prep with a tonne of moisturizer and blend this concealer on gently either with my fingers or a brush, and I get the same results in the end. The product is very smooth and feels very lightweight on the skin and lasts approximately 4-5 hours in our humid/warm Malaysian weather.

A swatch for you to watch?

shashay (4)

As you can see, after blending, the concealer is almost invisible, and I look like I don’t even have concealer on!

shashay (1)

You don’t need a lot of it, just a tiny bit will suffice to hide the spots, blemishes or redness. The product gives a soft matte and a satin finish for oily skin, HOWEVER dry skin like mine will probably see some creasing, so the prepping bit is recommended.

For a concealer though, this product lacks pigmentation. Since I personally have okay skin, this concealer is great in my books, but for anyone with more severe skin issues, this concealer is an epic fail. Call yourself a concealer? Hmpph!

Some closing thoughts on this concealer: I would repurchase this concealer, considering it provides me the coverage I need, and it isn’t pricey at all. It provides decent coverage when applied and giveslong, flawless wear under my eyes. And like I’ve been saying, if you need a heavy duty concealer, stay away from this one, and try the Nars Creamy Concealer instead. (Now that is a self respecting concealer)

The Revlon Colorstay Concealer retails at most pharmacies and drugstores nationwide for RM42.

Let me know if you have any better concealer in mind that you personally adore, and we shall swap concealer joys and horrors! 🙂
