Having Some Fun In The Sun With Kiehl’s !

Haroo awesomesauces!

Now you know me very well, I’m crazy about makeup and skin care. Crazy doesn’t even begin to describe it, its more like I have an insane rabid addiction when it comes to anything remotely beauty related, and skin care has always been my top priority since I think it is the canvas that the world sees.

However, not all of us are blessed with perfect skin are we? I have a skin type which is rather interesting honestly, its oily dehydrated. Heard of it? Oily on the outside, dry on the inside. Apparently I’m just weird that way 😀 Hence the reason why I’m always on the look out for skin care that leaves me looking less like an oil spill, yet still manages to keep me hydrated.

When I read about the Butterfly Project Malaysia June activity in collaboration with Kiehl’s Malaysia, I started squealing in joy!!! Kiehl’s is definitely one my favorite skin care  go to brands simply because they work wonders on my skin. HAVE YOU TRIED their Midnight Recovery Concentrate?  That product is my holy grail I tell you.

On the 8th of June, I’ll be wearing my sunnies & summer outfit ready to party with Kiehl’s ! Think warm sunshine shining on you while enjoying a refreshing ice-cold drink (Make that a mojito for me LOL! ). Not only will I be trying out the new Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream, but I’ll also be building my very own cactus terrarium! For the uninitiated, THIS is a terrarium ❤ Super pretty and cool don’t you think?

If you are familiar with the older version of the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream, I’ll have you know that the new, all improved version of it that I’ll be testing out on the 8th of June promises to be non sticky (oh yes a must! ), conditions oily skin yet keeps it hydrated for a full 24 hours, plus, contains their star ingredients, the Imperata Cylindrica Root Extract and Antarcticine. The gel-cream will help skin to look less shiny and with continuous use, promises to leave skin feeling velvety soft. It also helps by strengthening the skins moisture barrier. And for those of you who detest fragrances in your skin care, you’ll be glad to know that the Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream is fragrance free and leaves zero residue upon application!

To The Butterfly Project & Kiehl’s , I’m gonna tell you why I need to be there on the 8th of June !

Why do I need 24 hour no-shine fresh hydration?

Over the many years of trying multiple products, I have come to realize that most of my skin issues can be remedied by providing it with proper hydration. Hydrated skin means less breakouts, plump and soft skin, & not to mention skin that goes Boing Boing Boing 😀
Most hydrating products however leave you looking like you just took a dip in a sea of oil, and I don’t think I would fancy that look for a date or even a night out!
With the new Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream, I’m hoping it will satisfy both my hydration needs and my never-ending quest to oil-less-ness ! Velvety soft skin, here I come! A perfect product for perfect looking skin ❤

What do I love about Kiehl’s?

Oh gosh, where do I start? There’s so many things I absolutely adore about Kiehl’s ! Lets start off with their products, their products are packaged very simply, nothing fancy pantsy, just simple straight forward clinical packaging which doesn’t detract from the awesomeness of the product! Did you also know that their packaging is eco friendly whereby they have non-pvc laminated bottles for all Kiehl’s products and 100% post consumer recylced (PCR) packaging  in many of their products.

Their customer service is a godsend. Their staffs are always so helpful, friendly and kind. It doesn’t matter whether you are new to skin care, or a pro like me *ehem*, they are always ready to lend a hand to explain what a product does and to help you find the right items that suits your specific needs. They never do hard selling which is something I detest. At Kiehl’s , the customer comes first before the sale. And to top it all off, their staff wear cute lab coats which is such a refreshing change from all the black uniforms other skin care brands offer!

Kiehl’s are also always ready to give out samples for consumers to try before committing to a full size purchase. I absolutely adore brands with that policy since it allows us to make informed choices about purchasing something, and all my purchases at Kiehl’s has always left me a happy customer ❤ Moreover, their 100% money back guarantee on all items just goes to show how confident they are with their products.

Kiehl’s also has the most interesting displays ever. Have you seen Mr Skeleton lurking around their store? I love it! Their stores are always so calm and inviting, and one cant help but to just linger, browse and shop for the longest time ever. I swear I can spend at least an hour in Kiehl’s just enjoying the atmosphere. Throw in a barista and a great cup of coffee and I might just never leave, LOL!

I’ll meet all of you at the Secret Garden on the 8th of June, and do spot me in my bright summer outfit ❤ I’ll be the one dressed for some major fun in the sun!

2014 Beauty Resolutions

Hello awesomesauces!

Its that time again where we say goodbye to the past year, look back fondly at all the ups and downs, and make resolutions for the upcoming year. I wrote a recent blog post about my 2014 wishlists, hopes, and dreams, and this post is something similar to that, only now, I’ll be writing about my beauty resolutions instead.

Gosh, I’ve got so many resolutions for 2014!

The Butterfly Project Malaysia in collaboration with YADAH Malaysia wants to know what my beauty resolutions for 2014 are too, so hop on the Shashay train and here we go!

shashay (2)

Now, if you haven’t experienced YADAH, you totally should! One of my favourites from them is the Sweet Milky Tint, which they just released a few weeks back! YADAH’s beauty concept is all about organic, natural plant goodness, and a big no no to artificial coloring, preservatives, chemicals, mineral oil, sulphates and animal extracts.  Their  botanical skincare range products are gentle yet effective.

All YADAH products are certified by the Korean FDA (Food and Drug Association) and they are formulated to be hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic (doesn’t block pores)  with a mixture of botanical ingredients that are natural, organic and some of their products even have Ecocert certification. Ecocert certification means that the products are  manufactured by environmentally friendly processes, and that 95% of the total ingredients come from natural origin. WOW!

And YADAH has a major cute factor, have a look at the lil girl named Yadah in action!

shashay (1)

Too cute na?

Anyways, my beauty resolutions for 2014? I didn’t have to think too hard, since I knew my bad beauty habits all too well!  I’m only going to promise myself 3 resolutions this year, if I have too many, whoossshh, there goes my resolutions down the drain.

1. Spending more time nurturing and taking care of my skin and body. I’m always in a rush, trying to be a Superwoman at work and  at home, and sometimes, I’m just too exhausted to spend an extra 15 minutes to just give my skin the pampering it deserves. I think this includes more rest, sleep, and less stress. My skin and body definitely deserves better.
2. Eating right/healthy. This isn’t so much a beauty resolution, but I believe to look your best on the outside, you have to take care of your insides too. And in the quest to look amazing, eating the right things, and eating healthy will certainly be a plus point, and note to self, more water!
3. Choosing the right products. Sometimes we’re caught up in how a product looks, and and what they claim to do, that we fail to see what it is exactly we are using on delicate skin and body. Its high time I start looking beyond the packaging, and to shift to more natural, less chemical based products, and I’m sure my skin will thank me in the long run.Brands like Yadah are certainly going to be my go to products from now on since they offer natural goodness and organic products! Yay to going GREEN!!

Lets see if I manage to keep my promises this year.

I cant wait to experience the hands-on session and discover more about Yadah skincare and cosmetics this coming January. It will be an awesome way to start of my new year, and another chance to be around the lovely butterflies!

Have you decided what your beauty resolutions are for this year? Let me know!

Skinz UV White Miracle Blackhead Exfoliator.

Hello awesomesauces!

Another product review for today, and its the Skinz UV White Radiant Gene Activator Miracle Blackhead Exfoliator. Pheww that’s a handful! I always wonder why products are always named so long, but anyway, here is the product! As you can see, I tore the box accidentally when I was opening it. I tell you, being gentle is so not my forte.

Product description:  It is a herbal gel that painlessly removes blackheads, oil seeds, and dead skin cells, leaving a brighter skin tone, and if used regularly, it reduces blackheads, resulting in finer pores, and smooth flawless skin. It contains Sakura Leaf extract combined with Licorice which boosts skin whitening while the UV filters protect skin from damaging UV rays.

So everyone has blackheads, and yuck, black spots on your face is not attractive, so lets BANISH some blackheads!

How to use?

The product is a cool gel, is thick and smells very fresh. As you massage it onto your skin, it thickens even more, and becomes flaky, and lumpy which makes it feel like a scrub. The dust can actually be wiped off with a cotton pad or with your fingers.

After that, you rinse it off with water. Personally, it feels a little too smooth to me after rinsing with water, like there is a layer of something on my skin, so I usually follow this with a quick cleanse with my cleanser. Pat your skin dry, and voila, smooth, fairer skin! Its really super quick and easy.

This how the lumps look like after massaging it onto the skin for a few minutes.Sorry for the gross pic. =_=

And this is the deposits after you finish scrubbing your skin. A gel like flaky substance.

So what do I think of the product?

Spreadability: It spreads very easily like any gel product. Though it leaves a weird waxy feeling after rinsing with water.

End Result: It does what it says, it leaves my skin looking way brighter, thanks to the licorice extract and also the fact that I have all the gel flakes falling off makes me feel like the exfoliant is doing its job well. After about 2 weeks using this, I feel that my skin has less oil seeds, since I don’t  feel tiny lumps and bumps when I run my finger on my face. My skin feels super cleansed without stripping my skin from its natural oils. The Blackhead Exfoliator lives up to its name!

Scent: Smells perfectly nice and pleasant, like a fresh breeze.

Price: 20.90 for 40g, so not an expensive product really.

I rate this product an 8 out of 10 points.

Pros: An awesome product as a whole. Nothing bad to say.
Cons: Waxy feeling after water rinsing.

This product retails at all major pharmacies and retail outlets nationwide.

So what do you think? Yes to Skinz??

Carol Priest: Part 2, Green Clay Mask, Facial Lotion & Hand and Body Cream

Hello awesomesauces!

This review is the second and final part of my Carol Priest Review. In part one, I reviewed the Orangeflower Cleansing Milk and Damask Rose Toner. And they scored pretty well in my opinion.

For part two, I’ll be reviewing 3  products,  The Rose Damascena Facial Lotion, the Green Clay Mask with Herbal Oils, and the Damask Rose Hand & Body Cream.

To read about my un-boxing the Carol Priest goodies sent to me by HiShop, and also to learn more about CP as a brand, do read my first post here!

#3 : The Rose Damascena facial lotion for sensitive, dry & mature skin types(50ml)

shashay (4)

shashay (3)

Now I know I don’t have mature skin, so I passed this to my mum to use and let me know how it is for her.

  • The lotion contains a high percentage of nourishing 100% certified organic oils like macadamia nut oil and rosehip seed oil, apricot kernal oil and naturally occuring vitamins such as B5, A and E.
  • Macadamia nut oil is incorporated to support moisturisation and to protect cell lipids from rancidity and peroxidation.
  • Apricot kernal oil is used for its high content of vitamin A and for its light texture.
  • Genuine Damascena Rose Oil has been incorporated to stimulate the cell activity which brings new vitality and energy to our skin.
  •  The pure plant oils in this intensive treatment day lotion have been protected from oxidation and rancidity by adding non genetically modified naturally occurring vitamin E oil.
  • It also protects your skin from harmful ozone damage and damage from the sun by neutralizing free radicals.

Active Ingredients:
Aqua, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernal Oil, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Rosa Damascena Flower Oil, Tocopherol, Xanthan Gum, Daucus Carota Sativa, Commiphora Myrrha Resin.

It comes in the lovely glass bottle as the Cleansing Milk, and smells very nutty, and earthy to me.

How to use?

  1. Apply to cleansed skin, pat pat pat, and you’re done!

PS: This product is not suitable for pregnant women.

So what does my mum think?

Scent: A very earthy smell, very natural smelling, it doesn’t bother her much.
Spreadability:  It absorbs very easily, doesn’t take long for it to actually sink in. It spreads very nicely and softly.
End result: She thinks it leaves her skin smelling nice, smooth, and after using it for a few days now, she wants to continue using it. A keeper then!

She rates this product an 8 out of 10 points.

Pros: Not much to complain about, She didn’t have any adverse effects, and she likes the subtle fairness it imparts on the skin.
Cons: Pricey. For a small bottle,  which lasts maybe 2 months, she thinks its pretty pricey!

This product retails at HiSHop for RM220.00 for 50 ml.

Link to purchase:

#4 : Green Clay Mask with Herbal Oils for all skin types (15g)

shashay (2)

Mask time! I love masks, since they always leave my skin looking like a million bucks!

  • The green clay mask is a deeply purifying and stimulating mask made from freshly cut organic herbs such as chamomile flowers and peppermint leaf which have been blended with herbal oils and  manuka honey to refresh and tone the pores.
  • Active green clay (from France) which is rich in minerals from was chosen to cleanse, exfoliate, smooth and condition the skin.

Active Ingredients:
Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Honey, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Powder, Cymbopogon Schoenanthus Oil, Mentha Spicata (Spearmint) Leaf Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil

How to use?

The instructions given on the product are very very tedious, which involves teaspoons, warm compresses and cold compresses. Who got time for that?? But if you’re super hard working, the instuction can be found on the link down there, *scroll down a little*

What I do is this instead.

  • I apply a small quantity of the mask to my cleansed face and neck using my fingers, leave it on for 15-20 minutes, maybe go and watch one episode of Big Bang Theory, wash my face with warm water, and pat dry. Voila!

PS: This product is not suitable for pregnant women.

So what do I think?

Scent: Since it contains so much herbal oils, it does smell very herbally to me. It has a weird scent, I think it smells a little like paint, I dont know why.
Application: Simple and easy, and it dries pretty quickly and leaves your face tighter, and smoother.
Spreadability: It is a thick cream, very thick okay, and it takes some time to spread it, but if you;re using your fingers, its easier cause the warmth will melt the mask a little.
End result: I think it leaves my skin feeling much smoother, and tighter, and it seems my pores are smaller too!

I rate this product an 7 out of 10 points. Less points cause of the scent.

Pros: Smoother & tighter skin even after one use.
Cons: The scent may put you off a little, but otherwise its good!

This product retails at HISHop for RM90.00 for 15g.

Link to purchase:

#5 : Damask Rose Hand & Body Cream for all skin types (50g)

shashay (5)

shashay (1)

  • The cream is a luxury pure plant based hand and body conditioning cream, rich in shea butter and jojoba oil which leaves the skin feeling soft and silky.
  • It also contains pure Rosa Damascena essential oil for its exquisite fragrance, healing and soothing qualities.

Active Ingredients:
Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Rosa Damascena Flower Oil

How to use:

Simply massage the cream onto hands and cuticles as a conditioning hand care treatment. Also, moisturize the rest of your body with cream!

PS: This product is not suitable for pregnant women.

So what do I think?

Scent: A very strong rosy smell, which is so nice! I keep smelling my hands for no reason!
Spreadability: It is a thick cream, so you need to take some time to let it absorb, and your skin will feel like velvet.
End result: I think it leaves my skin feeling very smooth, moisturized, and smells ‘mazing too.

I rate this product an 10 out of 10 points. Full points in the house yo!

Pros: An awesome product as a whole. Nothing to complain about.
Cons: It takes a while, but hey, if its worth t, why not?

Un-boxing Birthday Presents! #Cindy

Hello awesomepeoples!

Sorry I haven’t updated for like 3 days now, work has been crazy tiring, plus going round KL attending events without a car is super exhausting. Its been such an eventful week, and I’ve got so many things to blog about!
REMINDER.MUST.GET.CAR.SOON. By the time I get home, all I wanna do is pretty much eat a huge Wonka bar  and go to bed and pass out. But anyway, enough about my week, finally my internet is being nice to me, so here we go! ❤

So I love presents, I mean, who doesn’t right? If you don’t, something must be wrong with you. Plus I’m a big fan of beauty boxes as well, the sheer excitement to know whats in a mystery box sound so tempting doesn’t it? Combine both, and what do you get?

Beauty Birthday presents! So it was my birthday recently, and I got presents, cash, random stuff, cards and etc. But I wanted to do a quick blog post to thank my girl Cindy for her gift to me!  Its extra special cause we’re both born on the same day, and Cindy has been such a good friend, plus she been super supportive in my new journey of blogging. So THANK YOU HUN!!! *hugs and kissies*

The gift came in super cute, compact Melvita Box, kudos to Cindy for re-using #gogreen

And VOILA! Its amazing how she managed to squeeze all the stuff into the little box!

What were my presents?  Rose floral water from Melvita, Rose Nectar Milky Cleansing oil, from Melvita as well, the Supermodel Stain by Jelly Pong Pong in the color Nymphette, a super soft printed scarf, and a loofah!

Beauty bloggers being beauty bloggers,  we know how to appreciate a good box of beauty products when we see them, and I was so excited to finally get my hands on the Melvita brand! I’ve never used anything from them, even though I’ve passed through their store loads of time and kept telling myself to try the brand out.

The Rose Water smells like roses, duh, and it can be used on the face and body, so I’ve been using it as a hydrating spray during the day, when my skin feels just a tad dry. It feels good, smells yummy, and keeps my skin moisturized from the cold air conditioning at work. It contains fresh Rosa Damascena petal extract to regenerate the skin too!

The Cleansing Oil,  I havent used yet, since I’m using the Oil Cleanse method for my skin now, if you wanna read up about that, you can click here, but the oil smells like something from my childhood, I cant recall what it was, but it smells a like roses too, and the description on the website says it contains damask rose essence and rosehip oil from Chile.

The Jelly Pong Pong lip stain is too cute! I love the packaging, and the colour is very pigmented too!! Its a cheek and lip stain, in the colour Nymphette (even the name is so cute). I haven’t used it cause I wanted to show it to ya’ll in its perfect condition. LOL.

And I got a super soft scarf too, the material is so smooth and I love the print! Animal print yo! Kay, don’t be jealous okay, I know how much you love animal prints!!! I’ll definitely do an OOTD featuring the scarf soon!

And lastly, Body Shop! I’ve always loved stuff from Body Shop, and I got a loofah in my favourite colour! Its amazing how much Cindy guessed right about me =D

That’s my birthday presents from Cindy, and again, a huge shout-out to her! =) Thank you so much babe, I love the presents!!!

Check our her blog as well at http://www.cindysplanet.com and show her some love!  And thank you for reading!
Let me know in the comments if  you want me to review any one of the products specifically in another blog post okay?

My New York Skin Solutions Experience

Hi hi hey!!

New York Skin Solutions.  I think most Malaysians are familiar with this particular brand no? I mean, we see the advertisements like ALL THE TIME.

Anyhoo, recently, I read on their website, or Facebook page, cant remember which one, that they are giving a free facial trial for first time customers to try out their services and products, so I thought, why not?  SO I signed up, and booked myself an appointment.

I went to the Mid Valley branch, first impression as I walked in, no greeting, no welcome, so I was like, yeah, fine whatever. Went up to the counter to let them know that I was there for the appointment. They took down my details, brought me into this room, and asked me to fill up some forms, you know the ones, like what’s your lifestyle like, how much water you drink a day, stress levels, current skin care routine etc.

Did that, and ended up waiting for 25 minutes. Anyway, I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, there was indeed a lot of people in the branch anyway. Then the consultant Vivian walked in and did a quick consultation of my skin. Unfortunately I was not allowed to take pictures, *how to blog??* company policy and what not. But basically I have uneven skin tone, and spots on my face. Not much acne or pimples thank god. The machine sees EVERYTHING! My skin looks so scary I tell you. All my pores looked 1000XXX bigger, and I could see so many craters!
*shield my eyes from the horrific images*

I must buy one of this for myself!

I must buy one of this for myself!

So she proceeded to recommend some packages for my ‘issues‘. It was expensive as I expected, since I did my research before going. I refused all of it and told her that I was there for the free trial only and if I’m interested after that, i’ll let her know what treatments I would want.

So then we went into the facial room, and I got changed, got comfy on the bed. AND WAITED ANOTHER 30 MINUTES.The consultant did come in to let me know that there were a lot of people, it being a Saturday and all.

So I said I’d wait. When she finally came in, she did a quick facial cleanse, since I had a full face of make up after coming there from an event earlier. She put on a sheet mask, and put the steamer on for about 20 minutes or so. And when I say steamer, it isn’t the nice warm hot steam you’re imagining, but a ice cold jet of steam. not sure why they use cold steam instead of hot steam. Any ideas why?

Afterwards, she put a thick, white, nice smelling mask and left that on my face for another half an hour, and guess what? I felt so comfortable I fell asleep!  Vivian later woke me up by starting to wipe the mask off, and asked me if I had a good sleep. LOL. Then she gave me a quick neck, shoulder and face massage and that was so heavenly. *note to self, go for a full body massage soon*

Anyway, I felt much better my nap, and she continued the facial by putting on some moisturizer and sunscreen on my face, and I must say, she has SOFT hands, like so soft it feels so good!!

After the facial, I did feel so much better, and my skin looked and felt so much radiant! I liked what I saw. I got a small trial/sample pack of their products containing a gentle face cleanser, aqua intensive toner, and tinted day cream (SPF25) as well. I’m loving the tinted day cream, and I might just go and get the full sized one soon!

I would definitely want to try NYSS again, but right now, their treatments are just out of my budget. It really is expensive to look your best  😦

What do you think? Any cheaper but better ways to attain gorgeous skin?

Drop me a comment and tell me about your skin issues, and how you’ve managed to solve them. *Help a sister in need*

Face Shop Cleansing Cream Review

Hello lovelies!

The product for review today? The Face Shop Herb Day 5 Combined Cereal Cleansing Cream.

I usually use this product only on the days where I have heavy make up on my face,  which isn’t always. most of the time, I’ll just use my Maybelline make-up remover. This product works amazing in removing all those heavy foundations, concealer and powder you’ve got on.

This is how it looks:

Its a heavy cream, much like the texture of body lotion, also quite oily as well, and pretty simple to use.It smells very fresh and creamy, if you get what I mean. I usually just rub a penny sized dollop using my fingers all over my face and it cleans off all the make-up.
If you don’t want the mess of an oily lotion all over your hands, you can always use cotton pads. One problem I have with this is that it does sting a lot if it goes near your eyes, so I wouldn’t recommend this to clean your eye makeup. So BEWARE.

Just rub this on all over your face for about one minute, or you can leave it on longer if you want, then wipe off with cotton pad, or wash straight away with your cleanser if you’re lazy and impatient like me =P…. It leaves your face really soft, moisturized and smelling nice afterwards. I have acne prone skin, and even though this product is super oily and moisturizing, it doesn’t affect my skin at all! A definite win for me!!

I do love this product a lot and will definitely continue to use it. It comes in a 150g jar and it lasts like forever since you only need to use a little each time. It retails for about RM26 plus I think, and lasts for about six months, so it really is a worth it buy.

Sometimes I use this on my hands as well just for the extra moisturized feel, what I do is just lather it all over my hands and wrap my hands in a pair of plastic gloves and just let it sit for like 15-20 minutes. If you add heat, it works better I’ve noticed. Just dip your gloved hands in a bowl of warm water and let it sit. Your hands and nails will feel really good after. Trust me =D

This product is available in all Face Shop stores nationwide in Malaysia!

That’s all from me for now lovelies, do drop me a comment to share your thoughts, ideas or even just to say hi to me!
Also like my facebook page here and say hello!
